Key Responsibilities

  • Management of Amico's HSMS program and ability to think and act in a leadership position in matters related to overall HSMS
  • Implementation of practical and effective methods of promoting H&S performance and culture in organization
  • Position requires proactive skillsets, strong attention to detail and a level of selfmotivation to achieve a successful completion to complex interactions
  • Management of Amico's existing Health & Safety Management System through a dotted line relationship to Operational Health & Safety Management Team
  • Management of program related to certification (COR) of Amico's 3 main business divisions
  • Ensure that all accidents, particularly Class 1 category incidents, are documented, investigated and recommended improvements implemented. Includes working with external agents to address cases of workplace accidents (WSIB regulatory compliance).
  • Focus on solutions that improve Amico's H&S operational performance through a balance of influence and enforcement to improve alignment to H&S objectives
  • Responsibility for Annual Safety Training program and delivery. As such, liasing with external health & safety consultants in the provision of training programs and health and safety services
  • Keep up to date with all aspects of relevant health, safety & welfare at work legislation and communicate relevant changes to the business
  • Identify opportunities and delivery programs to incorporate innovation and technological advancement into Amico's HSMS
  • Continue to improve on building a successful H&S company culture where engagement is 'the right thing to do' vs. a command & control approach
  • H&S database ownership and management protocols, vendor point of contact
  • Setting up training sessions.
  • Updating the training matrix (both worker names and training records)
  • Creating orientation certificates for new employees
  • Inputting new workers on SafetyNet
  • Setting up new employees for orientation on Amico's platform
  • Conducting orientations
  • PPE inventory
  • Inputting new workers after orientation on the H&S Management System online
  • Signing off documents
  • Creating accounts for foremen, operators, etc. on the H&S Management system online.
  • Other responsibilities as they develop, and position evolves due to changing market or changing company requirements

Travel Requirements

  • Travel to project locations and client meetings. Expectations are these will all be in GTA area / Golden Horseshoe area. Could require some travel outside of area
  • Travel to Amico Head Office (Windsor Ontario) and Amico Oxford (Cambridge Ontario), as required. Likely once per month.

Key Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or Certificate in H&S related educational field
  • Proven experience in working in and succeeding in a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Experience in building and managing a HSMS including components related to Training, Subcontractor Management, Incident Management, Certification programs
  • 10 years of experience in H&S Management field in development/construction industries.
  • National Construction Safety Officer Certification
  • Proficient in MS Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Professional demeanor, attention to detail, deadlineoriented, time management skills.
  • Organized and resourceful individual able to work independently or in a team.
  • Interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish effective professional relationships with employees and project managers.
  • Reliable, responsible, and motivated with excellent oral and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities at the same time while meeting deadlines.
  • Problem solving and critical thinking skills.
