    Opportunity

    MacEwan University is seeking an adaptable and strategic Marketing and Communications Partner for a full-time continuing opportunity with our Office of Communications and Marketing (OCM). Reporting to the Integrated Marketing Manager, you will steward the MacEwan brand and be a trusted collaborator, advisor, and project manager. As a primary advisor for your clients, you will focus on understanding their goals and translating them into tangible marketing and communications recommendations, solutions, and consultations in alignment with institutional priorities. As needed, you'll collaborate with colleagues within the broader OCM and Web Services teams to provide client support, develop project plans and briefs and see projects through to completion and evaluation.

    Key responsibilities include:

  • Building collaborative relationships with academic units and administrative areas to support their objectives while ensuring alignment with the strategic priorities of the university;
  • Scheduling and attending regularly scheduled client meetings;
  • Providing strategic recommendations, consultation, guidance and advice on marketing and communications efforts, plans, and opportunities for the assigned client group(s);
  • Engaging with the Web Services department to translate specific client goals and requirements so that they can provide the necessary client support, consultation, and resources;
  • Monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on the success of marketing and communications efforts, including evaluations, analytics review and analysis, reports and client/team debriefs;
  • Serving as a brand steward, ensuring accuracy and consistency of communications and marketing materials and alignment with editorial style, brand, and visual identity guidelines;
  • Writing and developing content for communications and marketing materials;
  • Identifying risks and opportunities that require input or consultation from management or other departments;
  • Engaging in research, development, and evaluation of both the current and prospective student experience in support of OCM efforts;
  • Collaborating with social media, advertising, and web services to ensure marketing efforts are measured and analyzed;
  • Coordinating the production and distribution of marketing collateral and digital content;
  • Liaising and consulting with other marketing and communications units within the university to ensure consistency and share ideas;
  • Liaising with external designers, typesetters, printers, photographers, suppliers and other university departments as required; and
  • Researching and staying current on industry best practices, and trends and continuously seeking to identify opportunities for continuous improvement, automation, innovation, efficiency, and cost savings.

  • Excellent verbal communication, writing, editing and proofreading skills;
  • Knowledge of media trends, social analytics, digital tools and platforms, and the communication planning process;
  • Business acumen; and
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently, as part of a team, and collaboratively with clients.
  • Qualifications

  • A minimum of a degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or a related discipline.
  • Experience developing and implementing professional, engaging, strategic and impactful messages through a variety of media.
  • Experience developing and delivering impactful presentations.
  • Experience engaging and collaborating with senior level management.
  • Previous experience in a post-secondary institution is considered an asset.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
