Overview


The Human Resource Generalist offers support to managers and supervisors within the organization by delivering guidance on all human relations matters.

He/She will have an active role in onboarding new employees and will ensure an incredible employee experience.

This position will have both administrative and strategic responsibilities and will assist with the planning and administration of important functions, such as staffing, training and development, and compensation and benefits.


Responsibilities

Management Support:


  • Answer employee relations inquiries and concerns and escalate when necessary.
  • Track and record employee absenteeism and vacation scheduling to ensure all requests are documented and business needs are met.
  • Suggest new policies and procedures to continuously improve efficiency and brand quality for the organization with ongoing benefits to the employee experience.
  • Assist in administering benefits, compensation, and employee performance programs.
  • Assist managers/supervisors with the mediation of employee issues and conflicts; complete investigations, when necessary, write reports, and accurately compile documentation.
  • Provide advice and support in the management and resolution of operational human resources issues within the framework of organizational human resources policies and programs, and relevant employee legislation.

Recruitment:


  • Assist with the development of job descriptions and postings, working closely with managers/supervisors to understand their needs for filling vacant positions.
  • Manage the onboarding experience, ensuring every new employee feels welcome and comfortable and is provided with resources that will help them to be successful in their position.
  • Evaluate, screen, and interview applicants for current vacancies; make referrals of qualified applicants to department managers/supervisors; recommend salary to be offered when hiring decision is being made.
  • Coordinate all background inquiries according to company policy including reference checks, credit, and criminal record inquiries.

Training and Development:


  • Research and assist in implementing needed and innovative training for departments and the organization.
  • Administrate and/or participate in orientation/training of new employees as required.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of programs that will drive increased employee satisfaction and commitment levels.
  • Conduct exit interviews for terminating employees and provide reporting

Administration and Record-Keeping

  • Coordinate payroll requirements as required.
  • Maintain employee files and documents to ensure privacy and accuracy, including employee contracts, termination letters, job descriptions, performance improvement plans, etc.
  • Aid with updating and implementing policies and procedures.
  • Ensure legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource legislative requirements through policies, procedures, handbooks, and communication.
  • Ensure workplace injuries are reported and documented promptly, and all relevant paperwork is forwarded to WSIB when necessary.

Qualifications

  • A postsecondary degree or diploma in Human Resources or Business.
  • 12 years experience as a human resource generalist is required.
  • Completion of or working towards CHRP designation an asset
  • Experience within the property management industry preferred but not required.
  • Proven ability to build strong working relationships, internal and external to the organization.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to always maintain a professional approach.
  • Mature judgement, strong principles, and ability to exercise tact, discretion, and diplomacy always.
  • Logical and analytical, with strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage time and multiple priorities effectively with conflicting deadlines.
  • Ability to be flexible, work with interruptions, and shift priorities of work as required.
  • A self started with a high degree of initiative.
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Creative, forward thinker.

Job Types:
Full-time, Permanent


Salary:
$60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
