- Enters approved invoices, cheque requisitions, petty cash reimbursements, and employee expenses into accounting system (SAGE) for payments;
- Verifies statements of account from various vendors and coordinates with vendors as needed;
- Perform day to day financial transactions, including verifying, classifying, and recording accounts payable data;
- Ensures confidentiality of financial records and employee information;
- Assists with filing and general correspondence;
- Responds to enquiries, resolves or directs calls to appropriate individuals;
- Maintains accounts payable vendor database;
- Maintains accurate records/files and documentation in accordance with YWCA policy and accepted accounting practices
- Works safely, reports all workplace hazards and follows all YWCA Hamilton Health and Safety policies and procedures;
- Nurtures and forms meaningful internal and external working relationships and partnerships;
- Understands emerging trends and industry professional standards;
- Supports YWCA Hamilton mission, vision and values;
- Performs other duties as required
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Works 1529hour work week
Qualifications
- Completion of 2 years' college in accounting, bookkeeping, or equivalent preferred;
- Minimum 2 years' experience in accounting or bookkeeping preferred;
- Experience in Microsoft Excel considered an asset;
- Must be able to lead and work from a feminist, antiracist / antioppressive perspective for operations and strategic planning;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Must provide a current Criminal record Judicial Matters or willingness to obtain at own cost;
- Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision, and also work effectively in a team;
- Bilingual English/French or other languages an asset.
