  • Enters approved invoices, cheque requisitions, petty cash reimbursements, and employee expenses into accounting system (SAGE) for payments;
  • Verifies statements of account from various vendors and coordinates with vendors as needed;
  • Perform day to day financial transactions, including verifying, classifying, and recording accounts payable data;
  • Ensures confidentiality of financial records and employee information;
  • Assists with filing and general correspondence;
  • Responds to enquiries, resolves or directs calls to appropriate individuals;
  • Maintains accounts payable vendor database;
  • Maintains accurate records/files and documentation in accordance with YWCA policy and accepted accounting practices
  • Works safely, reports all workplace hazards and follows all YWCA Hamilton Health and Safety policies and procedures;
  • Nurtures and forms meaningful internal and external working relationships and partnerships;
  • Understands emerging trends and industry professional standards;
  • Supports YWCA Hamilton mission, vision and values;
  • Performs other duties as required

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Works 1529hour work week

Qualifications

  • Completion of 2 years' college in accounting, bookkeeping, or equivalent preferred;
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in accounting or bookkeeping preferred;
  • Experience in Microsoft Excel considered an asset;
  • Must be able to lead and work from a feminist, antiracist / antioppressive perspective for operations and strategic planning;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Must provide a current Criminal record Judicial Matters or willingness to obtain at own cost;
  • Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision, and also work effectively in a team;
  • Bilingual English/French or other languages an asset.
