    SENIOR APPLICATION SPECIALIST, COLLABORATIVE ACADEMIC PRACTICE

    The Collaborative Academic Practice portfolio at UHN lead the synthesis of Health Profession Practice, Education, Research and Leadership in service of enhancing Patient Experience, Patient Safety and Health Outcomes.

    As an important member of the CAP portfolio, this role reports to the Senior Manager, Strategy and Transformation. The role will maintain the Corporate Intranet and external website for multiple stakeholder groups within CAP, provide other digital support as required, and collaborate with UHN Digital on a new Intranet Platform.

    The responsibilities of the CAP Project Coordinator include


    • designing, developing and maintaining internal and external websites

    • providing operational support to related applications

    • interfacing with our business and clinical stakeholders to assess change requests and future needs and ensuring that applications developed meet functional specifications

    • performing cross-functional and/or other duties consistent with the job classification, as assigned or requested
    o Designs, develops and supports modules for UHN websites
    o Works directly with stakeholders, who provide functional specifications.
    o Provides input, direction and time estimates for large change requests and new development efforts.
    o Follows SEO best practices and AODA standards for web accessibility
    o Participate in the Change Management and Issue Management processes.
    o Participates in troubleshooting issues to resolution.

    • Consistently produce clean, efficient well-documented code.
    Key skills to be considered for this role include:

    • Experience with Adobe and Microsoft Suite required.

    • Experience in client and server operating systems including Windows, Mac, and Unix.

    • Experience in application/web application development using high-level programming languages including ASP, SQL, PHP, CSS, JavaScript, JS Libraries & Frameworks, HTML

    • Able to provide complicated data analysis, and preparing different kinds of database/statistical reports.

    • Good understanding of object oriented design principles, and server side development issues on reliability, security, availability and scalability.

    • Atlassian suite: Confluence, JIRA, Bitbucket /GIT, Crowd

    • MS Windows Server, IIS setup and configuration

    • Experience with CMS platforms (Hybrid, Open Source)

    The Senior Application Specialist exercises decision-making capabilities, judgment and independence to coordinate complex tasks.
    To be considered for this role, you must have significant experience in managing time and tasks within an extremely busy professional office environment, and have the ability to focus on the priorities of a rapidly changing day. You have excellent web development skills and experience; superb organizational and time management skills and the ability to multitask effectively. Experience working with ASP, SQL, PHP, CSS, JavaScript, JS Libraries & Frameworks, HTML and managing data is required. The successful incumbent will show initiative and work well with a wide range of people throughout the organization. They will also be insightful, mature and tactful, remain calm under pressure and confident in their capability to perform well in the job and make it their own.

    Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree Computer Science, masters preferred
  • Experience working with ASP, SQL, PHP, CSS, JavaScript, JS Libraries & Frameworks, HTML
  • Excellent Communication and Interpersonal skills required
  • Experience working within health care, preferably in a hospital environment
