Inventory Control Analyst:


The Inventory Control Analyst is responsible for inventory reporting, materials disposition, warehousing capacity/utilization analysis and reporting of Key Performance Indicator (KPI) metrics for Materials Control in support of new vessel construction and repair/refit Programs at Seaspan Vancouver Shipyards (VSY).


The Inventory Control Analyst administers inventory cycle counts for purchased and manufactured parts and reports results, reviews pick list volumes in WIP, maintains oversight of the Kanban system, produce/maintain weekly/monthly reports in PowerBI and develops/maintains Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for areas of responsibility.


Note:

Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at 50 Pemberton Avenue, North Vancouver, B.C.

- Operations Center.


What you'll do

  • Generate inventory cycle counts for all areas of the business, including inventories held at subcontractor facilities. Review cycle count results and investigate variances.
  • Create inventory on hand accuracy reports and perform trends analysis, resulting in recommendations for continuous improvement of inventory accuracy.
  • Ensure cycle count processes and frequency of counts aligns with inventory management policies and contractual requirements.
  • Analysis of inventories at multiple warehouses with ongoing reporting of obsolescence, shelf life expiration and dead stock.
  • Business lead for disposition of damaged/defective materials, including dead stock and obsolescence tracking.
  • Analyze and report warehousing capacity and utilization against plan, to provide visibility to the business for budgeting and strategic planning.
  • Ongoing review of pick lists issued to Operations, to maintain WIP alignment with production capacity. Develop reports to monitor WIP levels.
  • Oversee Kanban replenishment for materials currently managed in this manner and explore additional Kanban opportunities.
  • Collect, validate, interpret and organize various types of data into relevant metrics and reports and/or summaries.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned by management.
  • Manage yard trailer CVIs, load information and available capacity.

What you'll bring

  • Postsecondary degree in a relevant field. An equivalent combination of education and/or work experience will be considered.
  • Demonstrated experience in the responsibilities of this role.
  • Minimum of 5 years inventory management and reporting experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience using MRP/ERP systems.
  • Experience with Kanban inventory management systems.
  • Experience developing PowerBI reports.
  • Excellent knowledge in report generating technologies; such as SQL, Business Intelligence, Crystal reports and Business Objects.
  • Advanced skills in MS Excel including pivots, macros and charts.
  • Able to interpret KPI and metrics data and convey results to a broad audience in clear and concise terms.
  • Strong analytical expertise in data mining and measurement reporting.
  • Knowledge and background in ongoing Warehousing operations which support a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with the development, implementation and ongoing utilization of a Kanban system in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstration of outstanding business ethics, integrity and honesty in all situations.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under highly demanding schedules with limited direction and function as a key team member.
  • Strong customer service, communication and organization.
  • Solid critical thinking, problem solving, prioritization, and multitasking skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to optimally communicate with all departments and levels of the organization. Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills.
