Director Of Instruction:

Equity and Inclusive LearningThe Richmond School District is seeking an educational leader for the position of Director of Instruction Equity and Inclusive Learning in the Learning Services Department.

This is a continuing position beginning on July 1, 2024.

Reporting to an Assistant Superintendent, the Director will provide overall leadership, planning, management, and direction of the district's inclusive learning structures and services for all students.

The role further provides leadership, planning, management and direction in the area of diversity and equity.


The Director is engaged across the role in keeping with related areas of responsibility and support for the implementation of the Board's Strategic Plan.

The Director supervises and collaborates with District Administrator(s).

As with any senior leadership position, the role and responsibilities are expected to grow and evolve as the successful applicant moves into and develops the position in collaboration with other members of the Learning Services and Executive Team.


CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Work collaboratively with other members of the Learning Services Administration team to design and implement cohesive, intentional district-level inclusive and equity learning plans.

Lead the development and implementation of key actions in the District's Strategic Plan, Strategic Priority 2 Equity and Inclusion, which states that our district will be equitable and inclusive and will actively address systemic discrimination and marginalizationSupport implementation of equity-focused initiatives currently in place and provide direction and support for new initiativesIdentify, develop and support implementation plans to respond to current district challenges related to systemic discrimination and marginalizationSupervise district-based educational staff and provincial outreach program(s), which may include members of the Inclusion Support Team, Speech-Language Pathologists, School Psychologists, Hearing Resource Teachers, Vision Resource Teachers, Explorations/Transitions Team, and Provincial Outreach Program for Students with Deafblindness.

Provide district supervision and oversight for the Aspen Learning Centre, Errington Learning Centre, Richmond School Program, and Explorations Program.

Utilize district and school enrollment information to determine the appropriate allocation of resources across all schools and programs.

Oversee and implement inclusive learning-focused assistive technology initiatives currently in place, including SET-BC and District Student Technology Applications, and provide direction and support for new initiatives.

Oversee processes and provide implementation support for Individual Education Plans across the district. Provide direct support to schools and families. Represent the district on internal and external committees in the area of inclusive education and equity.
