Junior Project Controller to join our Mining & Minerals business office. Reporting to the Manager, Project Services, this position is located in our Saskatoon, Saskatchewan office. This role has overall responsibility for providing support for a wide variety of projects and/or departmental project control functions. Responsibilities:


  • Analyzing and forecasting project costs; as well as developing, preparing and collecting schedule and cost data for monthly project reports
  • Creating and managing detailed project information related to contractual schedule, scope and cost for submittal to project management
  • Reporting project cost and schedule status to management for internal reviews as well as analyzing cost variances and recommending corrective actions for capital projects
  • Setting up, tracking and analyzing engineering hours and associated costs within Wood's proprietary management system
  • Ensuring all project tasks are identified and resource needs properly estimated on capital projects Preparing or assisting in the development and implementation of project baseline budgets and schedules
  • Setting up project Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and allocating budgets at appropriate WBS levels for project tasks
  • Reviewing project scope change and change order requests for proper justification, schedule impacts, and adequate budget and funding
  • Reviewing contractor, vendor, and consultant invoices for capital projects
  • Ensuring that relevant cost management procedures and reporting requirements are incorporated where appropriate on invitations to tender
  • Working in coordination with contract administrators on contract budgets, progress payments, valuations of contract variations and compensation events as well as contract financial closeout

Skills / Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate Degree in engineering, quantity surveying, or a recognized business program
  • At least 2 years of experience in project engineering environment (any discipline), or in a construction management environment
  • Project Services or cost control experience in an EPCM environment on light to heavy industrial projects will be considered an asset
  • Knowledge of engineering controls, cost control, estimating, scheduling and project reporting
  • Previous experience using P6 will be considered an asset
  • Knowledge of procurement/contracts, construction management and document control is an asset
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Experience using Convero or equivalent database system would be considered an asset
  • Welldeveloped oral and written interpersonal communication, teamwork and organizational skills
  • Authorization to lawfully work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood is required
