Description
The Waegwoltic is a seasonal recreation club located on the Northwest Arm in Halifax.

Not only are we a scenic getaway in the heart of the city, but we also host a multitude of events and programs for our members to attend.

Our property includes tennis courts, outdoor pools, moorings, and 5 buildings.

As a tender at the Waegwoltic your core responsibility would be to safely bring members to and from their mooring using our tender boat.

While waiting for members to call for rides, tenders must keep track of boats in our field and watercrafts in our Boathouse, reporting any issues found to the operations manager or facilities administrator.

The tender operator may be asked to help maintenance with general tasks during slow days or if they're looking for hours before our mooring field opens.

Please let us know of any maintenance or landscaping skills you may have as they'll likely be considered an asset.

We normally hire 2-3 full-time operators, with part-time positions filling in any gaps. We are able to reduce hours down to part-time in the fall for any students requiring it as well. The start date depends on weather and maintenance, but will be around late May-early June, and finishes mid-late October. An orientation day for basic training will be held in April/May for all facility departments.

Typical job duties include:

  • Answering members phone calls regarding rides to their moorings
  • Checking the mooring field to make sure everything is where it should be
  • Logging all tenders you provide
  • Check watercraft rentals schedule and facilitate them
  • Ensure tender boat is clean, in working order, and contains all safety devices needed
  • A valid boating license (required)
  • Previous tendering experience, or proven boating skills
  • A strong sense of personal and public safety
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work alone
  • Willingness/ability to help maintenance team on slow days
