Associate Director of Programs

Position Summary:


The Associate Director of Programs plays a crucial role in our organization, providing strategic leadership and oversight for all program-related functions.

This individual will drive the development and delivery of high-quality services and programs, ensuring they align with Today's Family's mission, vision, values and our commitment to Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging (EDIB) principles.

The Associate Director of Programs will also be responsible for financial planning, operational planning, people practices, workforce development, pedagogical focus, and curriculum development within the organization.


Duties and Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership:
Provide visionary leadership to the programs team, aligning all initiatives with the organization's mission, vision, and values. Lead the development and implementation of strategic plans to advance EDIB and early learning and child care quality initiatives. Oversee all phases of programs from initiation through to closure. Monitor compliance with legislative requirements and strategic goals of Today's Family. Ensure program activities and deliverables adhere to the quality standards of Today's Family. Adhere to legislative changes.

Financial Planning and Oversight:

In collaboration with the Senior Leadership Team, develop and manage program budgets, ensuring resources are allocated effectively to support program goals.

Monitor financial performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions as needed.

Operational Planning:
Develop and implement operational plans to support the effective delivery of services and programs. Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless coordination and integration of program activities. Develop and implement guidelines and policies associated with program development and management. Adhere to goals, priorities and standards for Today's Family programs. Manage the evolution and improvement of project management methodology, processes and best practices. Oversee the development of work plans, project schedules and resource plans. Verify and maintain relevant records and reports for all sites and programs under portfolio. Mitigating risk of program disruption.

Operate within the legislative standards of:
CCEYA, ECEA, ESA, MofL, OHSA, and Today's Family accountability standard.


  • Development and Delivery of Services and Programs: Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of all programs and services. Ensure programs meet quality standards and reflect best practices in early learning and child care. Supervise the analysis of programs to identify areas for continuous improvement. Align programs with our mission, vision and values. Meet Today's Family accountability standards. Increase services to a variety of age groups. Provide guidance and expertise in pedagogical approaches and curriculum development, ensuring they are inclusive, culturally responsive, and developmentally appropriate. Collaborate with educators and stakeholders to enhance program quality and effectiveness.

People Practices:
Live our mission, vision and values. Lead, manage, and develop a high-performing programs team. Foster a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and innovation. Implement strategies to promote EDIB within the team and across the organization.

In collaboration with the Director of Programs, evaluate Program Operational Management and provide relevant coaching and professional learning as required.

Work with operational management to develop leadership and support program quality and staff development.


You bring the following qualifications:

  • Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators (required)
  • Bachelor's degree in early childhood education, child development, social work, or a related field. Master's degree an asset.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a leadership role in early learning and child care or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of EDIB principles and practices, with demonstrated experience integrating EDIB into program planning and delivery.
  • Knowledge of early learning and child care quality initiatives, including relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Proven track record of strategic planning, financial management, and operational oversight.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teambuilding skills.
  • Knowledge of the Child Care and Early Years Act
  • Ability to provide a negative criminal background check including Vulnerable Sector Screening
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR Level C Certification
  • Provide proof of COVID19 Vaccination, 1st and 2nd dose
  • Access to a reliable vehicle to travel between program locations
