The Opportunity


We are currently seeking a
Specialist, Corporate Integrity to join our
Corporate Integrity team. This is a permanent, based out of our Toronto office
.


As a Specialist, Corporate Integrity working for the Whistleblower Channel, you will support the operation of the Channel, handling allegations, conducting, and coordinating investigations related mainly to the North Atlantic region.

Investigations predominantly relate to workplace violence, harassment and discrimination but also include cases related to theft, fraud, and financial crime.

You will proactively promote ethical awareness in Vale's corporate culture and the Senior Analyst should use their experience in conducting investigations to optimize the control environment within the company.

Occasionally, the Specialist will support Internal Audit engagements within the scope of the broader Ethics & Compliance team.

As part of the key responsibilities for this position, you will:


  • Conduct whistleblower investigations, which includes investigation planning, evidence collection, analysis, and report writing to the highest standards of investigational rigor and best practice.
  • Ensure action plans are prepared based on the investigation findings so that the Whistleblower Channel can help to identify improvement opportunities in controls, processes, and systems, working in a preventive manner.
  • Keep updated on the main regulations and market practices regarding ethics and investigations and other topics that may be related to the Whistleblower Channel activities such as fraud trends and emerging technologies.
  • Liaise with other departments, such as Audit, HR, Legal, Corporate Security and others, to ensure the seamless running of Whistleblower investigations.
  • Generate qualified and structured information for the various stakeholders including leaders, executive management, the Board of Directors, and respective committees of the Board of Directors.
  • Develop and manage internal communications facilitating access to employees to the Whistleblower Channel.
  • Have availability to travel from 20% to 40% of time throughout all North Atlantic operations, including remote locations.

About You

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Law, Psychology, Political Science, Intelligence, Criminology, or a similar field of study.
  • Training in intelligence processes and methodologies would be preferred but is not essential.
  • Certified Fraud Examiner ("CFE") certification would be preferred but is not essential.

Experience

  • 57 years' experience in Workplace Investigations, Compliance, Corporate Integrity, Intelligence or Risk Management.
  • Experience with forensic investigation software, intelligence and AI tools/technologies and databases would be an asset.
  • Experience in mining/a heavy industry environment would be preferred but is not essential.
  • Experience in a unionized workplace environment and knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act ("OHSA") would be preferred but is not essential.

Skills

  • High moral and ethical standards, with the ability to maintain integrity and impartiality when conducting investigations.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to liaise with employees at all levels within the organization and present findings to all levels of senior management.
  • Ability to think critically and use relevant knowledge and experience to form opinions and make decisions.
  • Strong interviewing skills with a keen knowledge of interviewing techniques and credibility assessments.
  • Highly focused, motivated, and selfdirected, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Open-Source Intelligence, and forensic investigation technologies.
  • Fluency in English, both written and oral. Proficiency in other languages, especially Portuguese, is a plus.
