Duties & Responsibilities:
Assisting Operations with the frontline management representation for the vessels in the Fleet Group, the
key responsibilities of the Junior Engineering Superintendent are as follows:
Vessel Operations
- Provides supporting role to Technical Superintendents.
- Assists with the maintenance of the safe and efficient operation of all engineering related
- Occasionally conducts vessel visits and inspections, ensuring vessels are maintained and comply
- Monitors vessel efficiency and environmental performance.
- Assist with the monitoring and maintenance of established KPIs.
- Projects and any other key responsibilities as assigned by the Senior Superintendent, Technical
Maintenance
- Assists with the preparation and planning of maintenance and repair of vessels.
- Monitors Planned Maintenance System (PMS) for execution of work.
- Assists with the monitoring and development of layup work specifications using the relevant ShipNet processes.
- Reviews all Ship Out of Service (SOS) forms submitted by their assigned vessels and ensures that all SOS events are reported promptly.
- Assists with the preparation of drydocking including specifications and with related surveys and inspections.
- Helps with the arrangement and management of the work of shore side contractors
Quality, Health, Safety, Environment & Regulatory
- Liaises with external authorities including flag, class and port state regulatory bodies
- Reviews the Shipboard Safety Management Committee meeting minutes
- Lead or be a team member in carrying out internal audits on any Company vessel
- Lead or be a team member in the investigation of any occurrence, accident or incident investigation.
- Any other duties or requirements as directed by the Senior Superintendent, Technical Operations.
Qualifications:
- Postsecondary education in Engineering with a concentration in Maritime Studies is required.
- Engineering Certificate of Competency is preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Excellent organization, planning and prioritization skills
- Able to work independently with mínimal supervision
- Able to build and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders
- Effective meeting management skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and to meet deadlines
- Selfmotivated, able to work in a team environment and balance the needs of a number of individuals and the team
- Capable of identifying and resolving problems in a timely manner
- Sound judgement, ability to balance business needs with the role of the employee advocate

- Ability to analyze and interpret technical information and drawings

- Valid passport and driver's license
- No travel restrictions
Working Conditions:
- Operates in an open office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment
- Requires undertaking visits to vessels on location as required
- Requires ability to travel on occasion, some of which may be international
- Operates as part of oncall rotation within department
- Requires routine after hour and weekend work
- Must have a vehicle available for use
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to climb up vertical ladders and stairways
- Ability to sit for long periods of time
- Regularly required to talk/hear
- Daily use of standard office equipment, such as computers and phones
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds
