Included in this number are over 110 service technicians providing nationwide service, effectively making Hobart Canada has the largest service organization among manufacturers in the food equipment industry.

Hobart Service is looking for a Business Process & Compliance Specialist who will passionately support the Canadian Service organization.

Reporting to the Business Unit Manager Service you will strategically support the service operations by developing, writing and implementing standard procedures for the various teams within the Service Business.

You will be accountable for ongoing training documentation and maintenance of the service operations training materials and procedures. You will also be responsible to maintain regulatory compliance with Measurement Canada.


Key Responsibilities include:


  • Plan, develop, write and edit operational procedures and policy manuals used by the various teams within the Service Business.
  • Work closely with Managers to document "how to" procedures for functions handled within each team and ensure procedures are documented and posted on SharePoint intranet site. Procedures must be kept reflecting any changes because of business process review.
  • Liaise with Service Management and Service teams to maintain a strong understanding of existing procedures.
  • Facilitation of structured training programs for both new and existing staff members.
  • Create communications to inform staff of updates to policies, procedures and any new initiatives affecting the Service operations.
  • Assist in managing employees' records, compliance with training requirements.
  • Make recommendations, as to improve the service operations, definition of Work Practices
  • Chair/primary representative for the company (liaison) between Hobart Canada and Measurement Canada (weights & measures).
  • Responsible to meet all applicable approval requirements for Measurement Canada
  • Maintain regulatory compliance with Measurement Canada
  • Oversee inspection of weighing devices on behalf of Measurement Canada
  • Develop and maintain a Quality Management System (QMS) manual like the ISO9000 system that Measurement Canada will approve.
  • Perform all activities associated with the documentation requirements for Measurement Canada System
  • Conduct annual audits, handle nonconformances, and make sure our information and technician information are up to date.
  • Ensure that developed plans addressing compliance issues and problems have been implemented.
  • Coordinate the certification of scales.
  • Schedule quarterly meetings and maintain meeting minutes.
  • Liaison with the U.S. fleet Manager

Preferred Requirements:


  • 3 5 years of relevant documentation and regulatory compliance experience
  • Bachelor's degree/college diploma in Business or a relevant experience.
  • General knowledge of the requirements under ISO standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
  • Able to exercise sound judgment in assuring regulatory compliance.
  • Strong time management, decisionmaking and advanced communication, and presentation skills.
  • Experience in a service and/or manufacturing related industry is preferred.
