Position Description:


The Hearing and Healthcare Coordinator will be responsible for the delivery of patient care by providing a high level of support and assistance to patients, families and the team in the Otolaryngology Clinic with close ties to the Department of Communication Disorders.

They will support the operation of the clinic by ensuring that patients and families access appropriate resources in an expedient manner and with the necessary support required.


Here's What You'll Get To Do

  • Support clinical team (physicians, social worker, audiologists, speech language pathologists, teacher of the deaf, nurse practitioner) in their efforts to obtain technology, funding or other services for their patients
  • Support patients and families in accessing technology and other resources by assisting with completion of forms, liaising with community professionals, assisting with transitions (to school, daycare etc.)
  • Work closely with the clinical team to ensure smooth and seamless clinic operations and patient and family access to team
  • Facilitate communication between families and professionals involved in their care
  • Coordinate and reschedule appointments and communicate with Hospital and clinic staff regarding these coordinated appointments
  • Communicate with team members within and outside of the organization to coordinate visits as well as obtain necessary clinical information for appointments
  • Initiate and assist in the coordination of family/patient education and health care professional education sessions or events
  • Collate clinical data and relay this information in a precise and timely manner to colleagues within and outside of the organization
  • Support clinical staff in organizing and storing materials
  • Attend daily team huddles
  • Attend weekly huddle and CIP
  • Provide coverage for other staff as required

Here's What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in a related field (Medical Administration, Health Administration, Communication Disorders Assistant, Social Service Worker preferred)
  • Clinical or administrative experience in a health care setting. Multiple experiences an asset. Experience in a hospital environment is preferred
  • Accurate keyboarding skills and strong working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Registration and scheduling experience is an asset
  • Familiarity with medical terminology is an asset
  • Experience with Epic is an asset
  • Experience with patients and families with communication challenges is an asset
  • Experience in a paediatric environment is an asset
  • Excellent problem solving skills that demonstrate an ability to anticipate potential issues, problem solve and make suggestions
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills. Proficiency in more than one language an asset.
  • Ability to remain focused and prioritize tasks
  • Dependability and good attendance
