Opportunity:

Cowichan Tribes is seeking a full-time Family Dentist who wishes to work and live in the beautiful Cowichan Valley.

This is a unique opportunity to be part of a team that is dedicated to improving the oral health of Cowichan Tribes members.


Purpose:
Diagnose, treat, prevent and control disorders of the teeth and mouth. Correct dental irregularities and treat dental or facial injuries.


We are looking for a full time family dentist (DMD or DDS) that will be under contract with Cowichan Tribes.

A Competitive Compensation package is offered.

In the clinic the dentist is supported by the dental team, consisting of two dental assistants, dental hygienist and support staff to do billings and related paperwork.


Responsibilities:


  • Examines patients, interpret xrays, diagnose, then advise patients about their treatment plan
  • Monitoring the growth and development of teeth and jaw.
  • Update patients' records in a timely manner and maintain confidentiality
  • Refer patients to specialists when necessary
  • Performs dental procedures, including fillings, extractions, root canals, preventive resin, carries control, silver diamond fluoride, dentures, night guards, crowns
  • Prescribing antibiotics or other medications.
  • Perform oral cancer screenings (velscope) and biopsy if needed

Requirements and Skills:


  • Graduate from an accredited Dental Program
  • Licensed and in good standing with the College of Dental Surgeons of BC
  • National Dental Examining Board of Canada (NDEB)
  • Must hold a current CPR level C certificate
  • Fully vaccinated and committed to adhere to COVID precautions protocols in the workplace
  • Work experience as a DMD/DDS,
    4+ years
  • Experience with complicated and simple teeth extractions, endodontics, complete and partial dentures
  • Ability to work in a crosscultural context
  • A pleasant and compassionate personality with the ability to make patients feel comfortable
