Job Description:
Black River Logistics Ltd. is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Yard Safety Officer to join our team in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

As a Yard security guard, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our employees, visitors, and contractors within our yard premises.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct regular safety inspections of the yard to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
• Implement and enforce safety policies, procedures, and guidelines to promote a safe working environment.
• Provide safety training to yard personnel, emphasizing best practices, proper equipment usage, and emergency response procedures.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, and prepare detailed reports with recommendations for corrective actions.
• Collaborate with management to develop and implement safety initiatives aimed at reducing accidents and improving overall safety performance.
• Monitor and ensure the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) by all yard personnel.
• Conduct safety meetings and toolbox talks to communicate safety updates, share relevant information, and address concerns raised by team members.
• Maintain accurate records of safety-related activities, including inspections, training sessions, and incidents.
• Stay informed about changes in safety regulations and industry best practices and ensure that the company remains in compliance.

Qualifications:

• Certification in occupational health and safety or a relevant field is preferred.
• In-depth knowledge of safety regulations and industry standards.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and educate personnel at all levels.
• Analytical and problem-solving abilities to assess and address safety concerns.
• Attention to detail and the ability to conduct thorough safety inspections.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and the ability to generate reports.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, if necessary, to address safety concerns or emergencies.
