Highlights of the job

We are hiring one (1) Full Time, Permanent Manager, Capital Planning & Analysis position working out of Edmonton, AB.

What you'd be responsible for

  • Providing input to the EPCOR Water Services Capital plans and directions.
  • Developing and implementing appropriate deliverables within the context of the Capital business plan.
  • Ensuring that reporting deadlines are met and the appropriate treatments are implemented with respect to internal and external financial reporting and planning requirements of EPCOR.
  • Managing a team, including retention and development.
  • Developing, implementing and reviewing Capital Assets processes ensuring compliance to policies, standards, regulatory requirements and ensuring mitigation of risks. Assessing internal controls to ensure adequacy and compliance with Canadian Sarbanes-Oxley processes.
  • Providing customerfocused financial support and analysis related to capital projects by working closely with the EPCOR Water Services Capital Governance team, senior managers and project managers.
  • Developing and testing of system upgrades, including Oracle Fixed Assets, Oracle Projects, Adaptive, and other related systems, including review and development of appropriate test scripts.
  • Liaising with Regulatory, One Water Planning, Project Management and Engineering Asset Management to ensure processes exist to capture and track data to support depreciation and cost of service studies in support of future filing requirements.
  • Liaising with operational areas to encourage and develop financial literacy relating to Capital Assets for both IFRS, Regulatory and Planning and Forecasting purposes.
  • Demonstrating a high performance, high discipline, safe, accountable, focused, innovative and achievementoriented, easy to do business with manner of working.
What's required to be successful

  • Professional accounting designation (CPA) is required.
  • Degree in Business, Finance or Accounting from a recognized postsecondary institution is required.
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience or leadership experience.
  • A minimum of 5+ years of directly related and progressively responsible professional accounting experience.
  • Ability to work and manage a team remotely.
  • Demonstrable sound understanding of current IFRS accounting guidance and policies, with a focus on capital assets will be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of regulatory accounting, particularly with respect to capital assets will be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge and use of Microsoft Power BI and Workday Adaptive Planning will be considered an asset.
