Description

This position reports to the Executive Director and is responsible for conducting client adult literacy skills assessments, educational interviews and employer organizational literacy needs assessments.

These activities support the current Skills for Success initiatives in the area of workplace and employment-focused adult literacy & basic skills delivery.

In the area of client assessment, specifically, the Project Administrator will:

  • Liaise with local referral partners, including Ontario Works and other Employment Ontario stakeholders to refer suitable clients to participate in centralized assessment services.
  • Coordinate and deliver at least 60 centralized assessment services over the course of one year to potential Better Jobs Ontario clients at various community partner locations. This may include educational interviews, proprietary adult literacy assessment tools such as CAMERA.
  • Make suitable and accurate program referrals to local adult literacy service providers to ensure assessed adults are directed to basic skills programs that meet their needs.
  • Make suitable and accurate referrals of assessed adults to local employment services including the Better jobs Ontario initiative.
  • Make suitable and accurate referrals to other community services that address mental health, housing, food security and other community level needs.
  • Conduct "warm handoffs" to all clients referred to literacy, employment, BJO or other community services and conduct follow up as necessary.
  • Liaise with Employment Services programs in Durham Region to collect information required to make suitable referrals to employment seekers including the Better Jobs Ontario initiative.
  • Maintain extensive client and community partner tracking data in Excel of assessments, interviews, referrals and follow ups.
  • Evaluate centralized assessment processes, tools and outcomes with input from clients, learners, local referral partners and next step stakeholders.
  • Create monthly reports for the Executive Director and contribute to interim and final reporting required by the Ministry of Labour Training Immigration and Skills Development.
  • Attend provincial Community of Practice meetings online.
In the area of Organizational Needs Assessments, the Project Administer will:

  • Refine, create, adapt, validate organizational workplace literacy needs assessments tools for use with employers.
  • Employer networking, liaison and engagement to gauge and determine employer literacy & basic skills needs.
  • Coordinate, conduct and report on organizational needs assessments for workplace literacy initiatives with at least three employers over the course of one year, using the tools and processes developed by LiNDR.
  • Liaise with local employers and employment stakeholders so that they understand and engage in the development of workplace literacy service coordination and program delivery.
  • Assist the Executive Director in the brokering of literacy and basic skills service delivery by connecting with programs, attending meetings and conveying employer needs.
  • Assist in evaluation efforts for ONA and client assessment activities.
  • Create monthly reports for the Executive Director and contribute to interim and final reporting required by the Ministry of Labour Training Immigration and Skills Development.
  • Attend provincial Community of Practice meetings online.

Job Types:
Part-time, Fixed term contract

Contract length: 12 months

Part-time hours: 21 per week

$33.00 per hour
