Reporting to the _Director, Maintenance,_ of Keolis Grand River, the Maintenance production manager, contributes to the the Region of Waterloo's successful ION Light Rail Transit (LRT) system by being responsible to oversees the maintenance of the LRV fleet operations within Keolis Grand River, and ensures that operations run efficiently, safely and in compliance with the laws and regulations.

This includes emergency response to safety critical situations.

The maintenance production Manager is responsible for directing and managing the maintenance staff, tools, and facilities, corporate objectives and KPI's.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Managerial Leadership

  • Plan, schedule, assign, monitor, train and develop maintenance team to achieve Keolis and Maintenance objectives.
  • Ensure team meets safety, quality and customerservice standards.
  • Identify and respond to safety hazards/concerns, and support respective JHSC.
  • Monitor and report progress, performance, incidents, delays and exceptional occurrences.
  • Attend daily maintenance production meetings to ensure maintenance, inspection and cleaning complies with established standards.
  • Participate in professional development as required.

Contractor Relations

  • Oversees the cleaning contractors for revenue service vehicles.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with contractors to ensure that performance complies with the terms of the contract agreements.
  • Attendance at regular review meetings with the contracted parties.
  • Ensuring that all contracting activities are carried out in accordance with appropriate guidelines following company policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to the renegotiation of existing contracts where applicable.
  • Actively resolve maintenance contractual issues so that customer satisfaction throughout the contract scope is maintained at the required level, as detailed in the contract.

LRV Technical Maintenance

  • Ensure that LRV technical standards, maintenance practices and cleaning activities are completed on a daily basis, while maintaining safety and quality standards.
  • Ensure effective audit and performance management mechanisms are established and undertake regular audits of LRV maintenance and vehicle cleaning.
  • Ensure LRV maintenance activities are undertaken in accordance with LRV lifecycle plan.
  • Participate in conducting investigations into technical, contractual or warranty disputes and review and approve changes to maintenance standards, processes and procedures for LRV vehicles based on sound maintenance practices.

  • Conduct technical inspections and approval of new and existing vehicles to ensure that required quality standards are effectively achieved.

Administration and Other

  • Ensure that all records and reports are stored to the required standard and communicated to within the engineering department as necessary.
  • May be required to be a certified member of the JHSC.
  • Comply with current company rules, regulations, procedures and operational instructions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Knowledge in electrical, mechanical, electronic, hydraulics, pneumatics and HVAC on light rail vehicles is preferred.
  • Superior organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to work with internal and external customers.
  • Basic Microsoft Office and computer skills.
  • Strong analytical ability to diagnose and resolve practical issues.
  • Able to read and understand schematics, operations, service and safety manuals.
  • Strong attention to detail with a strong focus on quality and safety.
  • Selfstarter to anticipate and resolve needs and requirements.
  • Strong manual dexterity to use various hand tools and equipment.
  • Able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently.
  • Proven ability to work under tight deadlines while maintaining safety and quality.
  • Support alternate shifts, including weekends and oncall requirements as required.
  • Must be willing and able to work in all weather, at night, and under pressure.
  • Valid G driver's license.
  • Ability to operate Hi-Rail vehicles on track an asset.

EXPERIENCE

  • Diploma in electrical
