The Role
Stockhouse Publishing Ltd. is currently looking for a Cloud Systems Administrator to join our team. This role is part of the Technology Group of the Capital Markets division of The Market Limited.

The Cloud Systems Administrator will primarily be responsible for the operation, configuration and security of our Google Cloud Platform and AWS infrastructure.

Focus initially will be on supporting the GCP infrastructure and then, over time, assisting in the migration to AWS. The Google Cloud Platform is used to provision and support our HotCopper and "The Market Online" web properties.

Responsibilities will include setup and maintenance of virtual Linux servers and all other related virtual support servers (e.g ElastiCache, MariaDb, etc).

This is a key position in the System Admin team and is expected to provide technical expertise in the GCP platform.

The Cloud Systems Administrator will work closely as part of the team to develop, plan, support and secure the Capital Markets cloud infrastructure.

They will provide technical assistance on Linux and cloud-based systems, and be expected to solve operational problems with all cloud infrastructure components.


Core Duties

  • Build, install, configure, analyze, tune, and troubleshoot Linux and Windows operating systems in cloud providers.
  • Resolve difficult system problems and provide user consultation or training.
  • Configure systems based on approved designs of the system and network security.
  • Manage hardware, software, and utilities for installation, modification, troubleshooting, maintenance, and upgrades of operating systems.
  • Monitor and analyze resource usage to recommend/develop enhancements to system capabilities and performance.
  • Compare, evaluate, and implement new technologies, and integrate systems into the computing environment.
  • Document systems infrastructure for users, support and consulting personnel, and developers.
  • Configure, implement, and maintain system security strategies, policies, and procedures.
  • Support infrastructure deployment models, including Private, Public, and Hybrid.
  • Maintaining a general level of expertise in AWS and GCP platforms.
  • Ability to configure VMs and Web Applications through SSH clients and remote connectivity
  • Participating in 24x7 oncall support as needed.
  • Document and follow processes and procedures for the cloud infrastructure and systems.
  • Collaborating with the team on future direction and opportunities for new technology.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computers or Engineering. Ideally with 2+ years supporting a cloud infrastructure.
  • Strong experience in Linux operating systems.
  • Strong experience with networked environments; either onpremise or incloud.
  • Must be able to design and implement complex network infrastructure that can isolate services and servers in a secure manner.
  • Good experience in Windows operating systems.
  • Experience with network storage solutions.
  • Ability to manage shared resource and perform moderately complex tasks.
  • Ability to work well independently and as a team member.
  • Experience in implementing a business continuation and disaster recovery plan.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work calmly under pressure with other technical team members.
  • Must be able to work as an independent, productive, responsible and selfmotivated member of the Technology Group and the company at large.
