Position Overview:


Under the general supervision of the Coordinator, Protection Services or designate, and while demonstrating a commitment to the Mission, Values and Management Philosophy of St.

Boniface General Hospital, the SHOP HEAD, GROUNDS is responsible for the Grounds Shop Operations, which includes the appearance maintenance of all grounds, parking lots, building entrances, exits, etc.

, of the Hospital complex and its affiliated buildings:
assisting with the selecting and monitoring of staff; preparing reports; and performing other related duties as required.


Experience:


  • Five (5) years' experience in grounds maintenance and gardening in a largescale operation.
  • Two (2) years' experience in a Shop Head/Foreman capacity.
  • Previous experience operating a skid steer loader (ie bob cat) is required.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate):


  • Grade XII or recognized equivalent.
  • Certified as a Landscape Technician by the Province of Manitoba Department of Labour.

SPECIAL TRAINING:


  • Must possess a current and relevant Skid Steer Loader Safety course certificate from the Manitoba Safety Council or will have to successfully obtain certificate at a time scheduled by the employer or at a time mutually agreed upon between the incumbent and the employer.

Certification/Licensure/Registration:


  • Valid Class V Manitoba Driver's license is required and must be maintained.

Qualifications and Skills:


  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under mínimal supervision.
  • Good mathematic skills.
  • Good supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Neat and tidy appearance.
  • Ability to operate and repair equipment required in the trade.
  • Knowledge of plant science, week control, plant disease, soil management.

Physical Requirements:


  • Physically able to carry and move loads up to 34 kgs.
