Description
Reporting to the Food Services Manager.

Prepares meals following established health and safety standards and optimal infection control practices.


Responsibilities:


  • Demonstrates excellent customer service skills
  • Must be physically able to lift and transfer heavy, hot items and stand/walk for majority of shift
  • Speak, Read and Write English
  • Set up and clean up of the dining rooms for meal service.
  • Plating meals and serving desserts for residents in a pleasant and friendly manner.
  • Washing & sanitization of dish wear and cutlery after meal service
  • Ensure standards of resident dietary services are consistently achieved.
  • Ensure all MOHLTC and Public Health requirements are met.
  • Maintaining a sanitary and clean working environment and is familiar with infection control techniques
  • Responsible for the preparation and production of all meals as listed on weekly menu including therapeutic diets and menu alternatives as required.
  • Assists in menu planning and recipe development activity by providing input on resident acceptability.
  • Responsible for cleaning maintenance and safety of all kitchen equipment.
  • Prepares weekly purchase orders.
  • Responsible for presenting an appetizing and appealing meal to the residents.
  • Provides monitoring of risks such as correct temperature, quality, quantity, appearance and portion size.
  • Ensures dietary staff demonstrate sanitary, safety and infection control procedures. Is in charge of dietary department during the absence of the department manager.
  • Understanding of geriatrics in an ethnocultural environment.
  • Prepares and plating food according to nutrition care plan and resident preferences.
  • To complete all other tasks as assigned
Experience in long term care, large quantity dining preparation and texture modification is an asset. Seeking individual with a passion for cooking. Opportunity for long

Salary:
Up to $23.40 per hour


Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Day shift
  • Overtime
  • Weekend availability

COVID-19 considerations:
Proof of Covid-19 vaccination required. Must have booster as well.
All PPE is provided.
Infection control education is provided.


Experience:

- cooking: 1 year (preferred)


Licence/Certification:

  • Food Safe, SafeCheck, Food Handler or equivalent (preferred)
