    Day to Day

    With minimal oversight you will have a variety of tasks you're responsible for including functional, preliminary and detailed design, technical writing, cost estimates, and specifications. This will include working on small projects or portions of larger projects. In addition you will participate in site visits, outreach activities and be encouraged to lead some client meetings (internal and external) as well as team meetings and trainings. You will support a variety of internal and external clients on creating design packages, design guidance documents, feasibility studies, and other planning documents.

    Qualifications

    Required
    This position requires a combination of skills, experience and education including, but not limited to:

    • AutoCAD and/or Microstation; MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
    • 4-7+ years experience in engineering
    • Post-secondary education in engineering from accredited program
    • Possesses effective oral and written communication skills.
    • Registered Professional Engineer, or eligible for full membership with a provincial agency, and/or Certified Engineering Technologist

    Alta offers a flexible, hybrid work schedule where most employees work from home three days per week. In-office days support our collaborative culture, one of our core values. The Ottawa office is located in the Wellington West area. The team enjoys access to transit and bikeways, and the walkability to cafes, restaurants, and shops.

    Compensation
    The pay range for this job in Ottawa is $80,000 – 95,000 CAD annually . Placement within the range is based upon experience, skill-sets, and qualifications.

    • Medical, Dental and Vision: Alta offers a competitive and comprehensive health, prescription, vision, and dental plan through Ascension. Alta contributes 75% of the employee's elected coverage for the plan that encompasses medical, vision, and dental, which includes coverage for partners, children, and families. The plan also includes a travel benefit plan that covers emergency services when traveling outside of Canada.
    • Life Insurance: Alta pays 100% of the premium for life and AD&D, equal to your base compensation
    • Pension Plan: Alta offers a pension place with an employer match of up to 4%.
    • Paid Time Off: Alta offers employees between 21 and 25 days per year depending on their length of employment with Alta (all new hires start at the 21 day accrual). PTO hours roll over from year to year, and employees may carry up to a balance of 250 at any given time. PTO accrual begins immediately.
    • Holidays : Alta offers 9 paid holidays during the calendar year including New Year's Day, Family Day, Good Friday, Victoria Day, Labour Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Boxing Day, and 2 floating holidays to be used at your discretion.
