The Wildlife Program Coordinator is part of a team responsible for delivering the Ministry's province-wide wildlife/vehicle collision reduction program which includes a system of signs, wildlife fences, overpasses, etc.

designed to protect both drivers and wildlife on our roads.

This position requires contract administration, First Nations and public consultation and education, and coordination with non-profit organizations and local governments.

In addition, the Environmental Wildlife Coordinator will work closely with wildlife specialists from other ministries, particularly the Ministry of Forests and Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy.

This position also works alongside regional and district ministry staff to coordinate activities and provide guidance on our wildlife infrastructure investments such as, exclusion fencing, wildlife crossing structures and signage.


Job Requirements:

  • An Undergraduate degree in an environmentally focussed program (e.g., Biology, Environmental Studies/Management) plus 2 years of related experience; or
  • A Diploma in one of the abovementioned disciplines and 3 years related experience.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Preference may be given to applicants with knowledge and experience in the planning, design, construction, and operational phases of wildlife/vehicle collision mitigation.
  • Must possess at minimum a valid Class 5 B.C. Driver's License that does not limit or restrict the ability to conduct the duties of the job.
  • Successful completion of security screening requirements of the BC Public Service, which may include a criminal records check, and/or Criminal Records Review Act (CRRA) check, and/or enhanced security screening checks as required by the ministry (Note: It is important that you read the job posting carefully to understand the specific security screening requirements pertaining to the position
Willingness Statement

  • Travel required, particularly during the field season. Conduct field work which may include travel to remote areas by vehicle or foot, overnight or extended stays and outdoor work in all weather conditions.
  • Must be willing to work in adverse weather conditions.

About this Position:

This position can be performed from any of the following communities: Kamloops, Prince George, Coquitlam and Victoria.
