    Job Description

  • Work with engineers, technologists and trades people to help our clients succeed in the construction of critical oil and gas infrastructure projects
  • Interpret regulatory and statutory requirements, codes and customer specifications relating to fabrication, welding and materials.
  • Monitor welding parameters, and write procedure qualification records and welding procedure specifications under the direction of the Welding Services Manager.
  • Prepare in-house work orders that communicate testing requirements to other departments and maintain traceability of samples and associated documentation under the direction of the Welding Services Manager.
  • Interpret laboratory test report results under the direction of the Welding Services Supervisor .
  • Conduct welder performance qualification testing under the supervision of the Welding Services Supervisor .
  • Perform routine maintenance on various welding machines and general shop upkeep
  • Participate in quality improvement and cost reduction efforts.
  • Qualifications

    Education:

  • Post-secondary education in Welding Engineering, Welding Engineering Technology or Manufacturing Engineering Technology Program (three-year program) is required
  • Welding Examiner Certificate of Competency issued by ABSA is an asset
  • CSA Level 1 Welding Inspector Certificate of Compliance is an asset
  • Experience:

  • Must be eligible to register for status ( also acceptable with the approval of the welding services manager)
  • Required Skills:

  • Must be able to read, understand and follow work instructions in a safe, accurate and timely manner.
  • Candidates must be proficient in using various types of computer software (Word, Excel. PowerPoint & Outlook).
  • Proven ability to manage, coordinate and prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced, high pressure, highly professional environment in order to meet tight deadlines.
  • Candidates must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills including grammar and composition.
  • Ability to work well with others & independently.
  • Proven time management skills and a strong attention to detail.
  • Extended hours may be required from time to time.
  • Must demonstrate a strong working knowledge of ASME Section IX, Section VIII Div. 1, , , and CSA Z662
  • Familiarity with API, NACE and AWS codes and standards would be an asset
  • Ability to compose clear and concise technical reports with attention to detail.
  • Superior organizational, communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Must have valid driver's license
