Job Duties

  • Perform finishing techniques on machined, metal aircraft parts using a variety of hand and power tools, including:
  • Edge break
  • Deburring
  • Blending
  • Perform drilling and reaming of parts
  • Support 5S and Lean manufacturing processes
  • Maintain a tidy working space, conducting housekeeping as necessary
  • Keep up to date on current production needs and priorities
  • Inform the Supervisor of potential problems involving any parts, tools, or the work centre
  • Other tasks that may be assigned

Education and Experience Requirements

  • High School diploma (or equivalent)
  • Coursework, educational background, or previous experience in a field related to surface treatment or metalworking, such as Automotive body work, is considered a strong asset.
  • Previous, related coldwork experience is preferred.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is considered an asset.
  • Must be willing to work as part of a team.
  • Must be willing and able to accommodate flexible working schedules, including shift work.
  • Good written and spoken English.
Applicants must have the ability, or willingness to learn:

  • Basic blueprint reading, to understand and interpret drawing tolerance specifications.
  • Aerospace specification requirements
  • Quality system requirements
  • Safe operation of hand and power tools
This is a physically demanding job and requires the following:

  • Excellent hand and eye coordination
  • Ability to perform metal finishing work while standing for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift up to 40lbs (cranes and lifting devices are available)
  • Safe use of hand and power tools
  • Ability to wear extensive Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) throughout their shift.
