JOB SUMMARY


The Shop Hand/Supervisor will mainly work individually on a day-to-day basis and is responsible for planning and coordinating the shop operations and maintenance of fleet and equipment.

The Shop Hand will monitor targets and standards ensuring that budgets are managed effectively and efficiently.


RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES

_Full-time hours_
- _schedule: _*8-5 Monday-Friday (adjustments may be made, as required, by the General Manager)

Ø Ensure that all equipment, vehicles, and trailers are safe and operational

Ø Plan, develop, coordinate, and monitor fleet and equipment maintenance activities, materials management, warranty activities, and technical support activities

Ø Responsible for coordination, planning and scheduling maintenance and service work for fleet - trucks, vehicles, heavy equipment

Ø Work directly with the General Manager to supervise the interrelated processes associated with fleet asset movement and organization - logistics

Ø Monitor targets and standards to ensure shop budget is managed effectively and efficiently

Ø Inspect and test small engine equipment and other mechanical components using testing devices to diagnose and isolate faults

Ø Diagnose and provide direction in solving technical issues on small engine equipment


Ø Adjust, repair, or replace mechanical or electrical system parts and components on small engine equipment including riding mowers, blowers, chainsaws, lawn mowers, snow blowers, etc.

Ø Perform preventative and scheduled maintenance service on small engine equipment

Ø Request assistance as needed

Ø Source parts and supplies and compare pricing, delivery, return policies, etc.

Ø Responsible for general shop safety, daily hoist inspections and quality control

Ø Organization of daily driver circle checks and coordinate maintenance and/or repairs in accordance

Ø Ensure that all staff are completing daily vehicle and equipment logs and report to management/HR if any issues with completion arise

Ø Maintain database of maintenance for company vehicles and equipment

Ø Manage seasonal change-over of equipment process (including aiding in the sale of machines and equipment)

Ø Enforce and promote all Clintar policies and procedures in place

Ø Communicate effectively with owner, general manager, and account managers regarding the status of trucks and equipment

Ø Responsible for shop cleanliness, record keeping, and inventory

Ø Maintain yard and shop in accordance with company image and safety standards

Ø Responsible to ensure all products are accompanied by an SDS in collaboration with HR and JHSC

Ø Responsible for maintaining inventories of hazardous waste materials in the shop

Ø Follow procedures for waste management and chemical handling, including sampling, weighing, and storing/labeling chemical containers

Ø Work in compliance with OHSA and its regulations

Ø Take every precaution reasonable in the circumstances to protect worker(s)

Ø Operate/drive trucks and equipment as required

Ø Other duties as assigned


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

EDUCATION

Education Required:
_Highschool Diploma or equivalent_

Other Education/Certification/Training preferred:
_Licenses as required by Federal and Provincial laws, clean drivers abstract, DZ license an asset, licensed technician and/or small engine mechanic certification preferred, 310T and/or S an asset, Reliability clearance an asset _


WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Work experience required: 2 years


Job related experience required:
Minimum 2 years in a shop environment, heavy machinery operation mandatory


QUALIFICATIONS
Ø Must possess a strong mechanical skill set including knowledge of basic electrical systems, hydraulic systems, mower technology and engines, both gasoline and diesel

Ø Basic automotive repair experience/knowledge

Ø Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, WHMIS and safe work practices in a shop environment

Ø A team player with strong communication skills; must be adept at fostering communication between managers and crew leaders
