    Location: Bimose Tribal Council, Kenora, ON

    Summary

    This senior-level advisor role involves overseeing Bimose Tribal Council's technical services department, managing support staff, budgeting, coordinating and providing technical advisory services to our member First Nations.

    Duties

    • Provide technical advisory services to member First Nations on major capital projects, water and sewage systems, roads, community infrastructure services, and education facilities
    • Supervise and manage a team of up to six (6) staff
    • Develop and maintain program budget for effective financial management.
    • Coordinate the activities of housing and inspection services, operations and maintenance, infrastructure services, solid waste management, fire prevention & safety, and emergency management team.
    • Develop short-term and long-term work plans and provide regular progress and activity reports
    • Review designs at various construction stages to ensure compliance with terms of reference and meet local, provincial, and/or federal codes, standards, and guidelines.
    • Review and complete feasibility studies to ensure scope of work meets communities needs
    • Attend meetings with ISC, and other provincial/federal departments and agencies

    Qualifications

    • Degree in the Engineering or P. Eng designation with a minimum five (5) years of experience;
    • Experienced in managing and advising on construction, operation and maintenance of facilities;
    • Working knowledge of various computer software including, but not restricted to: MS word, Excel, AutoCAD, Power Point and other design programs.
    • Knowledge of GIS and GPS hardware and software would be a definite asset.
    • Possess a thorough knowledge of engineering principles and practices as they related to planning, design, construction and O&M.
    • Knowledge of Anishinaabe Culture, Language and Traditions would be a definite asset.
    • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel.

    Salary

    Based on level of education and work experience.
