The Licensed Practical Nurse - Operating Room Technician (LPN-ORT) works as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team, collaborating on the delivery of holistic, comprehensive care and support to patients/residents and families.

The LPN-ORT works to the full scope of practice in providing safe, quality care in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health.

This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the AUPE Auxiliary Nursing Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications:
Graduate of a Practical Nursing program or recognized equivalent required. Active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA) required. Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required.


Additional Required Qualifications:

Graduate of an accredited Practical Nursing program or recognized equivalent required. Active registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA); reflecting perioperative. Operating Room Technician specialization required.

Graduate of a Perioperative Nursing program for LPN's with a minimum of three months of recent Operating Room experience within the past two years.

Must be able to lift 25lbs and have the physical ability to push, pull, bend, and stand for prolonged periods of time (more than 30 minutes).

Demonstrates excellent organizational, interpersonal and written/oral communication skills both spoken and written. Ability to perform consistently in a highly organized and rapid moving environment. Ability to collaborate within the expectations of an integrated team. Demonstrates proven problem-solving and critical thinking skills.


Preferred Qualifications:

Computer skills including experience with electronic charting & Microsoft Outlook. At least two year's operating room experience an asset.
