    We currently have a full-time position open for a bilingual, Directors & Officers/Errors and Omissions hybrid Underwriter starting as soon as possible.

    The Underwriter will join our team of 13 colleague in our Directors & Officers Underwriting Department and will report directly to the Directors & Officers department leader. The Underwriter will also work closely with our team of 25 colleagues in our Special Risks, IT and Cyber Underwriting Department.

    We will count on you to:

    • Review and analyze submissions.
    • Identify and obtain additional information required to conduct a proper analysis of risk including cross-referencing with other departments.
    • Assess exposure and determine rates, terms, and conditions of coverage in accordance with underwriting guidelines.
    • Negotiate terms and conditions with brokers.
    • Authorize transmittal of documents to brokers and markets as required.
    • Prepare and maintain periodic reports pertinent to the ongoing operation.
    • Service current accounts.
    • Develop and maintain an awareness of claims and exposures.
    • Maintain an awareness of market conditions, profitability initiatives and competitions.
    • Perform other related duties as requires.
    • Assist more experienced underwriters with administrative tasks and support.

    What you need to have:

    • Fluently bilingual in both written and oral French is an asset.
    • Completed a bachelor's degree majoring in insurance, commerce, business, business administration, economics, finance, statistics, accounting, or mathematics is preferred.
    • Work experience in insurance or related industry is an asset.
    • Outstanding customer service and negotiation skills.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Analytical, logical, organized, and decisive.
    • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively function in a team environment.
    • Computer literate in Word, Excel, and Outlook.

    • Working towards or completion of CIP, or an accounting designation is an asset.
