Lead Hand - Job Description

SUMMARY


Under the direction of the Production Lead and Grower team, the Lead Hand assists in the proper execution of greenhouse work requirements and ensures adherence to direction by production team members and contracted personnel to ensure maximum productivity and quality of work.

The Lead Hand also serves as a liaison between the production teams, contractors and the Production Lead, reporting on matters related to employee and contract labour needs and performance.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leads by Example
  • Assist the Production Lead in supervision and direction of the production team and contracted labourers.
  • Provides ongoing feedback to the Production Lead regarding employee and/or contractor's performance and task completion.
  • Anticipates and communicates to the Production Lead situations where timelines or tasks will not be met/completed.
  • Ensures all work is carried out in a safe and efficient manner, inline with safe working procedures and Bevo safety policies.
  • Other duties as required

REQUIRED SKILLS OR EXPERIENCE

  • Previous horticulture/greenhouse experience preferred
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Legally entitled to work fulltime in Canada
  • Experience supervising/leading teams in a production environment
  • Attention to detail and problem solving skills
  • Time management
  • Excellent communication skills
