Alexandra Hospital, Ingersoll and Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital are actively seeking applicants for an Integrated Manager, Diagnostic Imaging position. "Integrated" means that the successful incumbent will work at both hospital sites.


The Manager, Diagnostic Imaging is responsible for developing, maintaining and coordinating the programs and services of all Diagnostic Imaging Modalities, including, Bone Mineral Densitometry, Computed Tomography, Mammography, Radiology, Ultrasound, Cardiology, Alexandra Hospital, Ingersoll and Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital.


These functions include but are not limited to, staffing, quality control, patient care, patient safety, preventative maintenance, Ministry required testing, data entry and submission, and continuous quality improvement.

This Management role also requires the leadership for any health informatics initiatives related to the services provided within this portfolio.


Key Responsibilities:

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Have knowledge of and enforce policies and procedures related to Code of Conduct, Workplace Health and Safety, and Workplace Violence and Harassment.
  • Maintain compliance with all licensing/regulatory bodies by appropriate actions taken for violations.
  • Ensure patient safety through reinforcement of appropriate infection prevention and control practices including hand hygiene.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to privacy and confidentiality through actions and followup on privacy breaches.
Systems Management

  • Develop, implement and monitor adherence to department policies and procedures.
  • Oversee the maintenance of accurate information related to imaging within the patient electronic record and the imaging repositories (PACS, Muse).
  • Perform trouble shooting of equipment and act as initial contact for service issues and remove any faulty equipment from service.

Financial Management:

  • Obtain input from team members and other disciplines to establish and prioritize needs and requests for budget allocations.
  • Plan, prepare and submit for approval capital, operating and staffing budgets for area of responsibility.
  • Monitor and control utilization, spending and budget allocations to ensure adequate space, staff, equipment and supplies to fulfil identified needs.

Quality Management and Continuous Improvement:

  • Monitor physical environment in areas of responsibility, identify deficiencies or unsafe conditions, develop a plan of action and evaluate effectiveness of plan.
  • Ensure the technical skills, quality assurance and safety practices of each group of professionals performing the various Diagnostic procedures.
  • Support Quality, Patient Safety and Informatics Specialist of Diagnostic Services to investigate, report on, and monitor incident reports.

Human Resources:

  • Staff areas of responsibility effectively in order to fulfil the services offered.
  • Provide performance appraisals of Diagnostic Imaging team members.
  • Identify the educational needs of the team members and develop an education plan.
  • Promote, encourage and empower team members of Diagnostic Imaging in order to create an environment that builds selfesteem and supports productivity and dignity.

Professional Accountability:

  • Maintain currency in knowledge and skills by maintaining a personal education program.
  • Ensure practice is ethical, legal and professional.
  • Monitor compliance to and advocate improvements to hospital policies/procedures and intervene in situations where safety or wellbeing of patient/team members is compromised.

Qualifications:


  • Fully qualified Registered Technologist in Radiography currently registered with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) in Diagnostic Radiography or a Registered Medical Ultrasonographer currently registered with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO).
  • Current member of the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists (CMRITO). Preference will be given to persons with proven management skills and formal preparation in management.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a hospital Radiology or Ultrasonography Department is required
  • 3 years' experience in a similar role is preferred
  • Strong team player with the ability to perform duties independently and professionally.
  • Excellent teaching coaching and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Flexibility to meet operational requirements, including hours of work or oncall situations.
  • Prioritizes and responds effectively to changing work demands.
  • Shows initiative and identifies key issues, and takes logical responsible approach to problem solving, trouble shooting and conflict resolution.
  • Commitment to ongoing education.
  • Willingness to adapt to a changing health care environment.
  • Must be computer literate.
