    Description

    Duties:

    Ensure the required items needed for instruction are in place for student success and overall VIU experience. Responsible for assisting with smooth running of daily classes, operational facilities, as pertaining to the instructor needs for program delivery.

  • Prepare materials/supplies for demonstration, production, exams, competitions, other events.
  • Assist students with tasks. Assist students with safe use of equipment.
  • Assist and organize equipment and facility maintenance.
  • Organizing catering, par stocks, uniforms as needed.
  • Assisting coordination of facility scheduling with instructor and other departments.
  • Data entry for ordering, requisitioning and other administrative duties for operation
  • Required Qualifications:

    Red Seal in appropriate area (e.g. Culinary or Baking); minimum two years experience as a certified Red Seal tradesperson with full responsibilities.

  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently to complete responsibilities that affect a team
  • Demonstrated understanding of WorkSafeBC requirements.
  • Physical ability to meet requirements of kitchen duties
  • Understanding and sensitivity to a variety of learning styles
  • Ability to demonstrate processes and supervise students
  • Preferred Qualifications:

    Understanding of culinary program requirements.
