Employment OpportunityPosition Overview:
The
governWISE Alliance is an initiative of Nokiiwin Tribal Council open to all Ontario First Nations with the vision to help strengthen governance and build capacity.
The governWise Alliance recognizes that each First Nation community has unique needs and challenges, and we assist by providing support and guidance to the First Nations we service.
The initiative continues to evolve, and we are seeking an experienced, knowledgeable, and motivated Human Resources Advisor who has experience working within the First Nations field.
The Human Resources Advisor will work closely with a passionate, caring, and dedicated team and reports to the governWISE manager.
The Human Resources Advisor will be responsible for working both independently and amongst the project team to help identify priorities, create, and deliver relevant training, policy development, and other resources as identified.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develops relationships, provides resources, recommendations and training options related to key human resources areas.
- Support with all aspects of labour and employment law including compliance with regulations, laws, and compliance with hiring and terminations.
- Supports with recruiting efforts including hiring processes, reference process and employee training programs.
- Supports with the development of human resources strategies as required including workplans, leave request forms, performance review templates, onboarding processes, and other items as identified.
- Support with the review and delivery of employee benefit plans and pension options.
- Work with the Manager and governWISE Alliance team to develop an effective intake process including project plans, needs and resources.
- Development and presentation of relevant human resources topics for governWise Alliance webinars, social pages and in person training.
- Identify and provide guidance, recommendations, training/resources/tools, and templates related to recruitment, onboarding, offboarding, succession planning and other key areas as required.
- Prepare reports, communicate project status and issues, and contribute to the resource bank.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree/diploma in Human Resources or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of First Nation Governance is considered an asset.
- Excellent leadership, communication & interpersonal skills to work as part of a highperforming team.
- Discretion, sound judgment and decisionmaking skills in dealing with sensitive issues.
- Proven organizational, decisionmaking, problemsolving and analytical abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and collaborate at all levels of the organization and the ability to use tact and diplomacy when working in member First Nation's communities.
- Thorough knowledge of employment/labour legislation, programs, policies and practices.
- Strong organizational skills with an attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (word, excel, power point).
- Valid Drivers' license and access to a reliable vehicle is required.
- Minimal travel may be required including community visits, workshops, and conferences.
- Successful completion of Level
- Police Criminal Record (PCRC).

Salary:
$64,464.40-$65,938.60 per year
