The Maintenance Superintendent is accountable for the overall organization, planning, budget, and execution of the mill maintenance program.

The Maintenance Superintendent is the leader of a team responsible for maximizing long-term equipment availability within the cost constraints imposed.

This role must also demonstrate a commitment safety working eliminate workplace injuries zero incidents maintain all ISO standards.


SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES & KEY ACTIVITIES**:

  • Responsible for the safety of all employees in the Mechanical Maintenance Department and will ensure that all safety programs, WCB regulations, Company safety policies and programs are adhered to. The Mechanical Superintendent, Kraft will ensure that an acceptable level of housekeeping is maintained in the departments specifically assigned.
  • Will ensure that information on safety, budget/cost control, planning/scheduling, company policies and procedures and contract administration is communicated to Supervisors and Hourly employees.
  • Will assist the Maintenance & Engineering Manager in preparation and administration of the yearly maintenance budget and will ensure that the budget is adhered to in assigned areas.
  • Ensure that daily maintenance is planned, scheduled and executed, a preventive maintenance program is adhered to, adequate scheduling for area and maintenance shutdowns is carried out and longrange planning is established in order to preserve the mill assets.
  • Will ensure that all maintenance work performed complies with regulatory bodies and is consistent with HSPP standards.
  • Will ensure the BCSLA is applied in a fair, firm and consistent manner reflecting the interpretation of HSPP management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A University degree in Engineering plus five (5) years related experience in mill engineering, planning or maintenance departments; or, High school graduation plus trades qualifications in any one or more of the trades being supervised, with seven (7) years' experience as a tradesperson in the pulp industry.
  • Five (5) years' experience as a supervisor in the maintenance function
  • Must possess a high degree of understanding of all trades in the department and understanding of mill operating maintenance procedures
