The Housekeeping Supervisor, sometimes referred to as Executive Housekeeper, is responsible for executing the Housekeeping departmental mission ("To ensure physical guest comfort") by guiding and organizing the Housekeeping team, its activities, and its resources.


The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for the efficient daily operations of the Housekeeping department, and Breakfast Bar; ensuring our cleanliness standards is always top of mind.

This is done through strong relations with the Front Office team, cooperation with the Maintenance team and engagement and motivation of the Housekeeping hourly staff.


Responsibilities & Qualifications:

  • To guide, organize, develop, and engage the entire Housekeeping team.
  • To ensure clean, superior guest rooms & public areas; efficient operation of the inhouse laundry facilities.
  • Contribute to the overall success of the hotel through strong business acumen, a passion for service excellence, and a commitment to creating an exceptional employee experience.
  • Acts as a steward of the departmental resources and assets, operating with effective controls, processes, and procedures.
  • To ensure that all Health & Safety requirements are being met at all times.
  • Provide a high standard of customer service by efficiently and accurately dealing with all guests.

Duties and Essential Job Functions
To guide, organize, develop, and engage the Housekeeping team:
The housekeeping supervisor plans and coordinates tasks of staff including employee schedules and the organization of opening & closing duties
Understands and upholds the management philosophy of being an "Engaging Supervisor"
Manages the performance of housekeeping staff by providing ongoing coaching; discipline, performance improvement, developing high potentials, and rewarding high performers
Daily coaching of all employees to ensure our standards are being met or exceeded
Ensures that new employees have completed and passed the standard, mandatory training program
Ensures regular guest room inspections and public area inspections are being completed and tabulated for ongoing records
Identifies departmental training needs
Facilitates the morning meetings; roll call, and assignment of special daily tasks

  • To ensure clean, superior guest rooms & public areas; efficient operation of the in-house laundry facilities.
Ensures that high standards are in place and that they are being met or exceeded
Is hands-on in completing housekeeping duties
Co-ordinates & conducts routine inspections of all areas, including public areas and laundry
Co-ordinates and follows up on maintenance requests
Assists with routine inspections of all machinery and equipment and abides by a preventative maintenance program

  • Contribute to the overall success of the hotel through strong business acumen, a passion for service excellence and a commitment to creating an exceptional employee experience.
Participates in Operations Meetings and hotel committees as required
Liaises with the Front Office team and maintenance department

  • Acts as a steward of the departmental resources and assets, operating with effective controls, processes and procedures.
Productivity; prepares schedule according to occupancy and ensures labor costs do not exceed budget
Review payroll.
Ownership of hotel Lost & Found service
Works in conjunction with the FOM to set up the meeting room and maintain cleanliness for incoming events.

  • To ensure that all Health & Safety requirements are being met at all times.
Ensures a safe work environment is provided and maintained for all housekeeping rooms department staff, including necessary training requirements
Be aware of all chemicals used in any of the cleaners/tools used on the job and utilize following safety guidelines

  • Provide a high standard of customer service by efficiently and accurately dealing with all guests.
Checks Heartbeat and guest feedback/ reviews daily. Conducts internal investigation, communicates finding to General Manager
Reviews policies and SOPs to prevent a recurrence, and communicates to the staff
Respects the guest's privacy, security and personal belongings - follow appropriate procedures
Follows proper guest etiquette - respectful, friendly, and polite to all guests, using the guest name where possible
Familiar with all hotel amenities
Use your knowledge of the local area to help guests enjoy their stay

Knowledge and Skills Required
High School Diploma
2 years housekeeping experience
