Position Summary:


Reporting to the Manager, Insight Health Solutions, the Billing/Finance Administrative Specialist will perform a variety of duties related to the full cycle accounts and billing process.

The administrative specialist will also support the manager on new initiatives, handle more complex vendor processes, and mentor less experienced staff.


Responsibilities:

This position will perform clerical duties associated with the department:

  • Review the invoices and Epic accounts for all pertinent information such as appropriate visit types, coverage, required general ledger coding, quantity, description, unit price, and payment terms.
  • Research problem Epic accounts and contact internal departments and vendors to resolve account discrepancies as well as ensure disbursements and internal transfers are made on a timely basis.
  • Build and reinforce exceptional relations with Hospital stakeholders, Shared Services West and Thirdparty clients (e.g. WSIB) to improve the current processes and address and resolve billing issues.
  • Provide detailed information upon request, follow up on nonpayment and escalate issues to management where appropriate
  • Assist in monthend processes to ensure accurate and complete monthly processing of financial information in compliance to accounting standards and internal control requirements (e.g. suppliers' statement reconciliations and complete accrual processing, etc.) as well as provide financial reports
  • Bill for thirdparty services rendered (e.g. WSIB Specialty) in Epic. Contact thirdparties to resolve account discrepancies.

Key Qualifications:
  • College degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 35 years of finance/billing experience required, preferably in a health care environment
  • Accounts receivable background
  • General accounting knowledge and principles
  • Knowledge of Epic and hospital accounting and finance systems
  • Adaptable, selfdirected individual who possesses initiative to work independently with mínimal supervision and also exhibits innovation to improve existing processes
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills both oral and written, combined with a customer focused approach and ability to handle requests in a professional, diplomatic and tactful manner
  • Strong organizational and effective time management skills combined with the ability to prioritize tasks to meet the demands and timelines of daytoday operations
  • Proven abilities to find and resolve billing discrepancies
  • Strong working knowledge and advanced technical skills in Excel
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail when performing a wide variety of tasks
