Job Description:
RESPONSIBILITIES
Management of policy and process, advisement - 60%
- Advise multiple teams within SSENSE on new and existing regulatory requirements prior to purchasing, importing, exporting or selling regulated goods in Canada and other key international markets
- Manage the collection and maintenance of vendor and product documentation and information
- Develop, document and implement processes to support SSENSE regulatory compliance objectives
- Perform internal audit activities to ensure compliance with internal regulatory policies related to geographic purchasing and distribution considerations, product: ingredients, labeling, storage, registrations, permits/licenses, and recalls, vendor compliance, etc.
- Lead and grow a team of regulatory coordinators as SSENSE expands its product assortment of regulated products
- Act as primary point of contact with regulatory authorities and respond to requests for information
- Perform periodic internal audits of internal processes to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
- Occasionally provide input during contract negotiations
People Leadership & Development - 40%
- Lead hiring efforts and conduct interviews to attract and retain top talent
- Lead the creation and development of training documentation for the team
- Hold weekly oneonones, conduct performance reviews, analyze individual KPIs and assess promotion readiness to help each contributor evolve in their roles
- Collaborate with Senior Leadership to gage and monitor team engagement and implement solutions to create a transparent, collaborative and productive work environment
- Collaborate with Senior Leadership to establish the short term objectives for the department and ensure team's are engaged towards achieving the department's missions
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence within the Trade and Regulatory Compliance Department
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a business, science or regulatory affairs field
- A minimum of 57 years experience in Canadian regulatory affairs
- A minimum of 3 years of previous leadership experience
- Solid understanding of Canadian consumer product regulatory requirements, US, EU and other international jurisdictions regulatory knowledge an asset
- Knowledge of import requirements in international markets
- Ability to successfully resolve regulatory related issues
- Experience working in an ecommerce environment, an asset
- Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
