    Job Description Located in Southern York Region, The Adult Day Program is funded by Home and Community Care. This program helps to divert and delay admission to long-term care by providing therapeutic, social, and recreational programming to seniors with Alzheimer's disease and other dementias, those aging with developmental disabilities and frail elderly seniors without cognitive decline. Services are delivered by a diverse team of health care providers.

    We are looking for: a full-time, permanent Dietary Aide Salary: Commensurate with experience Hours of Work: 34 hours per week. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 8:30am to 4:30pm, Wednesday 11am to 7pm and Friday 8:30am to 3:30pm. Role is based at the Joseph & Wolf Lebovic Jewish Community Campus 9600 Bathurst Street, Maple. Reports to: Supervisor, Adult Day Program

    Responsibilities


    • Work with food provider to place food order and plan weekly/monthly menu
    • Plate and serve meals, supervise client dining.
    • Oversee volunteers and other staff assisting in the kitchen
    • Daily baking with a group of clients
    • Knowledge of COR rules
    • Ensure kitchen remains Kosher
    • Provide Supervisor with a weekly list of supplies needed
    • Maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment.
    • When required, assist clients with activities of daily living, eating, toileting and bathing.
    • Attend staff meetings, case reviews and training.
    • Other duties as required

    Qualifications


    • A valid CPR, First Aid Certificate


    • PSW Certificate, Certified Health Care Aide or Activation Diploma
    • Food Handler Training Certificate is required.
    • 1-2 years experience working in an industrial kitchen
    • Working knowledge and understanding of COR requirements
    • Previous experience in a community setting or Adult Day Program or Long Term Care is preferred
    • Experience working with frail and impaired elderly and their families
    • Experience working with individuals living with Alzheimer's disease and dementia
    • Experience in assisting in recreational programming for seniors baking/cooking
    • Experience working with clients in a Jewish environment is an asset
    • Must be able to work as part of multi-disciplinary team
    • Clear communication skills
