Landscape Maintenance Lead Hand
Directs all maintenance activities at the job site in accordance with pre-established schedules, specifications, and procedures established by Genuine Earthworks. The lead hand is responsible for coordinating and controlling project progress to ensure timely completion as per pre-determined schedules. This position can be a year round position, transitioning to snow removal in the winter.
Overview of Responsibilities
- Create relationships with all clients
- Overseeing day to day operations of maintenance team (
there are times when you will be onsite working by yourself and other times working with a crew of 12 other people)
This is a hands on position, as well as a supervisor role: - Work with clients on added sales, ie. annual planting, mulch, pruning, etc.
- Train new members of the maintenance crew
- Responsible for managing a crew (typically 12 people), to comply with the company's productivity requirements, policies, and safety regulations
Daily Tasks Include:
- Running a maintenance team for 35 days per week or as needed
- Communicating with customers and identifying any concerns or needs
- Route planning and prioritization with office
- Work order scheduling. All materials, labor and deliveries are to be scheduled so work orders can be completed as efficiently as possible
- Close communication with the owner and office
- Making sure you have all supplies and route information before you head to job site
- Filing completed punch lists in the customer file
- Ensure each job is in compliance with Genuine Earthworks Standards
- Ensure crew members are in compliance with safety standards
- Proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
- Monitors proper use of required personal protective equipment on crew
- Ensuring proper use, care and inventory of company vehicles, equipment and tools
- Monitoring irrigation systems on site to ensure proper working order and efficiency
Daily office work:
- Ensuring crew members clock in and out at the proper times
- Submission of all purchase receipts and invoices
- Green waste: please dispose of all green waste at dump within 2 days
Requirements:

Hold a valid driver's license, with a clean drivers abstract must have 3 years no fault in order to be insurable to drive company vehicle:
- Have a minimum of 2-3 years' experience in a landscape maintenance position
- Be capable of working independently with little supervision
- Experience as crew lead a definite asset
Wage:
$23-25/hr based on experience
Location:
Various locations around Calgary
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities:
Outdoors, physically demanding, attention to detail, fast-paced environment
Transportation/Travel Information:
Valid driver's license
Own Tools/Equipment:
Steel-toed safety boots
Additional Skills:
Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications is an asset
Area of Work Experience:
Landscape maintenance, pruning, mowing, edging, planting and small power equipment operation
Specific Skills:
Operate heavy equipment, clean and lubricate equipment and refill equipment tanks, conduct pre-operational checks on equipment
Education:
No degree, certificate or diploma; but experience a must

$23.00-$25.00 per hour
