Environmental Health and Safety Trainer

Position function:

As a leading North American food ingredient distribution and solution provider, Caldic is committed to providing a safe and healthy environment in which our employees, contractors and visitors and customers can carry out their business.

The Training Coordinator is fully responsible for developing and implementing the HSE/Training components to support the maintenance, and improvement of the H&S Management System.

More specifically, he/she is responsible to ensure that all Caldic North American employees receive the proper training they need to perform their job efficiently and safely throughout their employment.


MAJOR TASKS AND DUTIES:


  • Plan, organize and deliver training activities to all employees on different shifts, and record the training activities in Caldic Systems.
  • Develop and keep up to date the various training programs and course materials, standard work procedures and checklists aimed to support the employees.
  • Conduct new employee onboarding including Safety, organization standards and compliance requirements.
- work in collaboration with the department Supervisors ,Operations Director and the Human Resources Department to define required training for each position and align an employee progression plan with the training program

  • Deliver Health & Safety, WHMIS, GMP and other training mandated by the government and in compliance with ESA and OHSA. Update training matrix accordingly.
  • Support the implementation of systems and procedures arising related to the management of occupational health and safety.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Carry out training initiatives with production and quality team members on the floor.
  • Provide training sessions to improve the Health and Safety program through review of policy and development.
  • Perform gap analysis on the Training Program to identify where training gaps increase risk to the people, the environment and the operation.
  • Develop training modules which include presentations, practical training requirements and evaluations. Modules are required for High Consequence Protocols, Mobile Equipment, Orientations and Job Specific Tasks.
  • Develop and monitor the 'on the job' and/or 'peer to peer' training process.
  • Ensure training systems are designed in such a way they are efficient and effective and monitor the training follow up process
  • Presentation Skills
- comfortable and effective in delivering group presentations and training to various stakeholders


KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:


  • Certified Training for Trainers
  • Thorough understanding of training management systems and adult learning principles
  • Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar position in a food or pharmaceutical manufacturing setting.
  • Trained and certified Training for Trainers for Forklift Operations
  • Conduct and/or coordinate all required safety training (New Hire Safety Orientation, Task Specific Training, WHMIS, Fire Extinguisher, Fork Lift Operations), CPR-First aid)
- knowledge of laws, regulations and standards governing occupational health and safety

  • Flexibility to work on different shifts (day, afternoon, night and/or weekend).
  • Experience designing and implementing curriculum preferred.
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail, able to manage competing priorities in a fastpaced, growing work environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills together with an ability to facilitate commitment to a cooperative team effort.
  • Good communication skills, both orally and written with both internal and external contacts and the ability to work with all levels of the organization
  • Good knowledge of the major risks such as machine safety, lockout/tagout, confined space, powered industrial trucks, work at Height, chemical management, and ergonomics.
  • Knowledge of laws, regulations, theory and case law on safety and the Association of Canadian Standards (CSA). Updated knowledge of changes and innovations in health and safety.
