About the Role


Family Services Employee Assistance Program (FSEAP) provides clinical counselling services to employees of client organizations who may be experiencing problems in their personal, family, or work lives.

In addition, the program provides a variety of organizational services to its corporate clients, including workplace consulting and training, and critical incident stress management responses.

As a social enterprise of Family Services of Greater Vancouver (FSGV), FSEAP is a fee-generating business, with all of its profits going to support the larger work of FSGV and the Greater Vancouver community.


Working within the mission, vision, values and person-centred philosophy of the Agency, the Counsellor provides counselling for children, youth and families, individuals and couples, serving clients of all ages, family configurations and income groups, addressing a wide spectrum of concerns including: separation and divorce, relationship difficulties, parenting concerns, family conflict, loss and grief, ageing, depression, anxiety.

It actively supports the Agency's awareness and goals around diversity and inclusion.

Work Hours: 21-28 hours/ week (Fridays mandatory, other days flexible)


Salary:
GS12 Step 1 $33.01/ hours


Location: 1638 E. Broadway, Vancouver BC (for first 6 months, then hybrid)

What you bring:

Education, Training, Experience

  • Master's Degree in Social Work, Counselling or Clinical Psychology or equivalent, minimum of one year Minimum 1 year experience in clinical setting
  • Current registration with a regulatory body: RSW, CCC or RCC

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Knowledge of clinical psychotherapy models and techniques, for individuals, couples and families, including developmental and attachment theory
  • Familiarity with addiction and recovery theories and treatment
  • Familiarity with the legal system/legislation pertaining to child protection, the duty to warn criteria and the Personal Information Protection Act
  • Excellent intake, crisis intervention and assessment skills and the ability to develop flexible treatment plans that meet the unique individual needs of the client
  • Ability to provide cognitivebehavioral strategies for clients including psychoeducation, affect management, selfregulation, stress management and strategies to help manage depression and anxiety
  • Ability to integrate knowledge of therapeutic models and techniques into practice
  • Understanding of crosscultural and equity issues
  • Ability to work independently and on a team
  • Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with social service system personnel and other community programs
  • Knowledge of community resources

Additional Requirements

  • Successful completion of criminal record check
  • Proof of Covid19 vaccination status will be required
