You as a Maintenance Technician will:
Participate in all mandatory EllisDon safety training and enforce all EllisDon safety policies and NSH policies. These policies shall be extended to any sub contractor working on BLCOC site.

Perform and ensure all facility maintenance work is scheduled and conducted in a safe and timely manner that meets all key performance indicators and agreements established between EllisDon Facility Services and Nova Scotia Health.

Assist in planning, control, and execution of maintenance work in conjunction with the EDFS help desk.

Ensure the continuity of all services through availability of redundant equipment, staffing as well as the various sub trades who provide maintenance and repair service to the physical plant and building's interior and exterior elements.

Oversee and perform daily routine and preventive maintenance and will play a key role in the development of planned preventive maintenance in conjunction with the EllisDon helpdesk.

Assist with scheduling and ensures the efficient utilization of supplies, utilities, and equipment in a cost-effective manner while providing safe, quality service delivery to all patients, staff, and visitors at the hospital.

Coordinate and assist Operations Manager in managing external contractors work for a variety of repairs and maintenance projects.


Willing to do the following:

HVAC filter changing, bearing greasing, belt changing, light furniture repair / maintenance, Audio Visual equipment adjustment and troubleshooting, light carpentry, painting, wall & ceiling repair, doors & hardware, grounds keeping / snow removal & ice control.

Provide plumbing & electrical troubleshooting and repair.

Is this the right role for you?

Minimum of 3 years maintenance experience in a large facility.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, ability to read, write and speak English
Strong computer skills.

Ability to read and interpret mechanical, electrical and control drawings; knowledge of Building Automation Systems, Life safety systems, Electrical systems and HVAC including Boilers, Chiller, Humidifiers, AHU's, Pumps, Motors, UPS, Generators, Fire Alarm, Security and AV systems.

Must be willing to participate in 24/7 on call rotation and occasional after hours and overtime work.
Previous experience in a hospital or healthcare setting would be considered an asset.
A reasonable understanding of building communications network systems (ICAT) systems.
