As a
Casual Youth Care Worker (On-Call) for our therapeutic programs in the Burnaby area, you will have the opportunity to be a part of our team that provides support, care, and mentorship to at-risk youth with mental health challenges, brain injury, and/or substance use.

A variety of shifts are available, allowing you to work around school, family, or other obligations. Shift times are generally 7am-3pm, 3pm-11pm, 11pm-7am (awake overnight), and 24-hour shifts from 10am-10am.


Qualifications:


  • Ability to meet our
    Relief/Casual Team Guidelines and Expectations which includes providing at least 2 shifts of availability on the weekends, availability on holidays, and for and oncall shifts
  • High school diploma
  • 23 years of experience working with atrisk youth with complex mental and behavioural challenges, and who may be aggressive
  • Experience or knowledge of traumainformed care
  • Ability to set strong boundaries and build appropriate rapport with youth
  • Knowledge regarding brain injury and attachment disorders
  • Experience working with clients with selfinjurious behaviours
  • Ability to pass a Criminal Record Check and Ministry of Children and Family Development consolidated check (takes up to 6 weeks to process so please plan accordingly)
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication
  • Minimum Class 7N BC Driver's License (Class 5 preferred) and acceptable driving record
  • Proof of COVID19 double vaccination record

A sample of what you'll be doing:

  • Performing outreach, especially during awake overnight shifts
  • Maintaining a safe and healthy environment in the home
  • Building positive working relationships with the youth, their families, community members, and other professionals (e.g. social workers, probation officers)
  • Facilitating recreational and/or educational activities
  • Encouraging and modeling acceptable social standards and setting and maintaining appropriate limits
  • Collaborating with the clinical team and providing input into assessments and youth care plans
  • Driving youth to and from appointments, school, outings, etc.
  • Performing household maintenance duties, preparing meals, administering medication

Salary:
$22.70-$23.25/hour + 4% vacation pay on each pay cheque
