Description

Golden West Baking is looking for a full-time Bun Line Bagger operator. The position is for our evening shift, from Sunday to Wednesday/Sunday to Tuesday 7:30pm - 7:30am.

Functions:
Responsible for directing the packaging area team throughout shift.

Primary person responsible for operating and setting up all machines in the bun packaging area. Operates Department under HACCP regulations and WCB safety guidelines.

Operate the Sandvik machines, UBE Bagger, Kwik Lock Closing Machines, Metal Detector, and Box Machines in the most efficient and effective manner.

Assure smooth product flow throughout the entire bun line packaging area. Responsible for the efficiency and smooth running of packaging area. Primary person responsible for operating and setting up all machines at the Sandviks and UBE Bagger.

Duties and Responsibilities on all Shifts

Complete Pre-Operational Checklist
Start and adjust all machines for proper operation and optimum performance.
Ensure tray washer is set up if required.
Ensure proper slicing of product.
Organize, prepare and load Poly supplies as required for Sandvik, and bag supplies as required by UBE Bagger.
Ensure proper packaging, sealing, dating of product for Sandvik, and ensure proper packaging and kwik lok with clear correct stamp for UBE Bagger.
Rebag product manually as needed
Organize and set up waste bins as needed.
Keep Sandvik and Bagger area organized, clean and sanitary.
Ensure that Quality Control and order data are collected as required.
Ensure that all paperwork, such as forms, logs, and schedules are maintained.
Keep top surfaces of machines clear and clean.
Keep all tools in proper storage.
Adhere strictly to all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's) outlined for working in a food processing plant.
Report any mechanical and safety problems with machines to a Supervisor or Mechanic
Assist in general cleaning of machinery and plant facility as assigned when production is stopped.
Work as a team and cooperate with your fellow team members at all times.
Report low inventory of slicer blades, boxes, pallets, carts, trays, packaging, etc. to Production Manager or Shift Supervisor for reordering
Fill out wrapping Q.C. for each dough (every 20 minutes)
Follow all Standard Operating Procedures
Check metal detector every hour.
Report any Time Loss, Product Loss, QA Issues, or Mechanical Problems to the Shift Supervisor immediately.
Ensure box machine is set up correctly if required
Ensure that all packaging area supplies are properly in place at the start of each product run (cart, pallet, tray, box, etc.). Help set up the Sandvik arms.
Working with the Trailer Loader properly record each product as done when it completes. Properly record all balance for each product as it completes.
Communicate with and assist the Bun Mixer operator, Bun Divider operator, Bun Oven operator, and Trailer Loader.

Specific Job Requirements

Physically able to lift and handle up to 50 kg weights (Sandvik Poly).
Be able to pull skids of product, up to 40Kg pulling weight.
Understands and is able to complete all required paperwork
