Description

Reporting to the Director, Membership, Benefits and Insurance, the Coordinator, Insurance will be responsible for the coordination, administration, and maintenance of the insurance programs exclusive to the SMA for their members.

This position may provide recommendations based on financial and medical information leading to the obtainment of adequate insurance coverage and any subsequent adjustments.


Key responsibilities include:


  • Systematically collects valid, reliable, and pertinent financial, medical, banking, and insurance information and documentation adhering to strict privacy and regulatory requirements.
  • Answers inquiries from medical students, residents, practicing and retired physicians regarding the specific benefits and coverage available through the specialized and unique insurance policies only available through the SMA.
  • Works collaboratively with a range of external stakeholders to integrate approaches into complete solutions for the benefit of the client. These stakeholders include MD Financial Management, University of Saskatchewan, underwriters, claims analysts, PGME office, accountants, banks, lawyers, etc.
  • Assists and provides backup to the other Coordinator, Insurance to enhance team efficiency and quality outcomes.
  • Identifies potential marketing and growth opportunities, and assists in marketing opportunities for all SMA insurance plans to the profession.
  • Provides reports measuring growth, statistics, marketshare, etc. as needed.
  • Other related duties as assigned by the Director, Membership, Benefits and Insurance.

Qualifications:


  • Postsecondary diploma/certificate in office administration and/or equivalent education and experience.
  • Insurance related education such as Group Benefits Certificate, Certified Employee Benefits Specialist preferred.
  • Work experience in benefit and insurance administration preferred.

Salary
$51,889 - $70,200 per annum commensurate with experience.
