- Performs a needs analysis with customers and determines the appropriate method of supply.
- Analyzes and processes purchase requisitions, creates and authorizes purchase orders, amends related documents as required to reflect cost variances between purchase orders, invoices and acquisition cards.
- Research and evaluate new sources of supply.
- Conducts assigned vendor selection processes; analyzes requirements; prepares RFP; develops evaluation grid; submits requests to vendors. Analyzes responses and makes recommendations to requestors.
- Negotiates with suppliers, as requested, on prices of goods or services and other terms and conditions.
- Ensures compliance with purchasing terms and conditions and communicates with suppliers or requisitioners as required.
- Ensures that transactions and contractual documents take into account the various issues, risk elements and reflect the commercial agreements and terms and conditions.
- Fills out appropriate forms and documents; prepares correspondence and reports as required to ensure necessary follow-up.
- Familiarizes others with their work by explaining their own tasks and informs the applicant in real time of the progress of projects and/or actions in progress.
- College diploma or equivalent.
- Purchasing Management Association of Canada (PMAC) certification, an asset.
- Two years' experience or more in similar or related positions or activities.
- Proven client service skills and experience.
- Experience with tendering processes (RFPs) an asset.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Advanced knowledge of SAP.
- Strong interpersonal and team-playing skills.
- Able to take initiative, be proactive, and work independently.
- Proven negotiation skills.
- Strong ability to multitask and prioritize in a busy, high-pressure work environment.
- Highly organized and able to meet tight deadlines.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Open-minded and comfortable adapting to change.
