Description

An ER Technician within the Emergency Response division is responsible for the following duties:

Implements all aspects of Health and Safety during field responses and assists Team Leader with coordination as requested
Implements all aspects of the emergency response operations including response, administration, support as well as site property management in the field
Represents QM in a competent and professional manner at all times
Facilitates and ensures that the best course of action is executed while respecting the life, environment, and property and the best interest of QM clientele
Supports the Emergency Response operations
Required to participate in an oncall schedule to cover 24/7/365

Responsibilities:

Supports the Emergency Response Team with Hazardous Materials response.

Assists with efficient and timely response 24 hours a day in a professional and safe manner representing and reflecting the company.

Utilize all Health and Safety initiatives on emergency and nonemergency projects
Follows HSE compliance with applicable Federal, Provincial Acts, Codes and Regulations
Completes, updates and distributes health and safety related documentation as required regionally and specific to various business lines
Assist in developing and delivering required training programs to clients and internally at QMLP
Complete all paperwork and reports required for operational tasks
Perform equipment checks and testing on a scheduled basis
Perform maintenance on QMLP vehicles and mechanical equipment as requested
Provides basic housekeeping of our building and our work areas
Attends scheduled training and lead training as assignment by Operations
Completes required documentation in the management of waste and transportation of waste as per the Provincial and Federal regulations
Responsibilities as otherwise assigned by Operational/Regional Management

Qualifications:

Education:

Postsecondary education in a related discipline preferred or an equivalent combination of training, education and experience
College or University Diploma or Degree an asset

Occupational Certification:

NFPA 472 Hazardous Materials Operations Level or better
NFPA 1006 Confined Space Entry/ Rescue certification asset
NFPA 1001 Level 1 & 2 is an asset.
Valid driver's license
Tank car/ Tank truck Specialist is an asset
Construction Safety Officer (CSO) is an asset

Experience:

Hazardous Materials Response experience (1 years or greater)
Previous experience in chemical handling, transferring, and waste management, etc. asset
Previous experience with the assessment of industrial services and a keen understanding of working at heights, confined space, rescue etc. asset
Comprehensive heavy construction experience and Industrial experience an asset
Rope Rescue Technician experience is an asset
Volunteer Firefighting experience is an asset.

Knowledge:

Must be an adept communicator with team work skills that are collaborative and flexible
Excellent understanding of Federal and Provincial regulations and other regulatory authorities with respect to operations
Excellent computer skills, with a focus on Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel

Work Environment:

Both office and outdoor activities related to typical diverse environments and varied locations, ability to work in inclement weather conditions as required and to travel regularly.

Required to work on call.
