What you will do


You will support the Program Initiatives Lead in providing leadership, supervision and direction to the Aquatic team members and volunteers who are running community aquatic programs (Primarily the Women's Only Swim and Newcomer Youth Swim Program).

There will be a component of program development and the coordination of logistics for swim programs.

This may include employee scheduling, supporting the hiring and training of new team members as well as, providing direct program delivery and lifeguarding/ head guarding support where needed.

In this role, you will also provide exceptional customer service to all members of the YMCA community.

This will include providing information to participants and aquatic programs that we offer and providing administrative support to program registration.

You will be responsible for the day-to-day coaching of aquatic staff and support shift coverage.

You will have the opportunity to develop strong relationships with families and peers as you assist in creating a safe and welcoming facility for all.


What you will bring


Ideally, you will bring a minimum of 2 years' experience in aquatics, preferably in a head guard/ team lead/ deck supervisor role.

Previous leadership experience would be an asset but is not required. You are computer literate, with a strong knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.

You have a strong attention to detail and a passion for bringing swim programs to populations who have barriers to participation.

You are certified as a National Lifeguard and Swim Instructor through LSS or YMCA (or have the ability to get certified in early January Experience developing new programs or seasonal programs is an asset.

You are committed to working in a socially inclusive environment responding with sensitivity and personal awareness to diverse needs.

You have well-developed interpersonal and relationship building skills with the ability to establish rapport and excellent communication with fellow employees, children, families and community partners.

This position requires your willingness to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends and the ability to travel to different YMCA locations across Guelph, and Waterloo Region.

You will also be required to present a clear, current, Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector screening.
