We are seeking a Manager, Energy - Global Procurement who will be based at our Montreal Headquarters and part of the Strategic Procurement team.


Reporting to the Senior Manager, Energy - Global Procurement & Trading, the Manager, Energy - Global procurement will play a critical role in the overall success of the Energy Procurement team's ability manage a $5B cost profile in a highly volatile supply and pricing environment.

The Manager, SP Energy - Global Procurement will positively impact on the bottom line, contributing to the organization's stability and growth.

the planning, sourcing, and physical acquisition of safe, reliable, and uninterrupted supplies of jet fuel and other related products in order to support Air Canada operations for domestic and international locations.


They will be responsible for conducting supply market research, establishing sourcing strategies, seeking proposals, analysis of received proposals and ensuing analytics, conducting negotiations, draft contracts and be responsible for implementation and vendor management.


Role & Responsibilities

  • Manage procurement events, independently or in collaboration with the Senior Manager
  • Global Fuel Procurement:
  • Conduct supply market research and baseline spend analysis
  • Work with cross functional teams to determine business requirements and establish sourcing strategies
  • Manage competitive bid and contract negotiations
  • Design and implement category strategies that deliver financial and other performance targets such as service, quality, and risk management
  • Represent Air Canada at commercial industry committees, working & lobby groups, and conferences including IATA, Star Alliance, A4A, and ALTA Draft and execute contracts and record in the Ariba system
  • Contribute to the improvement of internal procurement practices:
  • Participate in the establishment of best-in-class procurement methods
  • Develop models to evaluate supplier proposals using quantitative and qualitative criteria
  • Actively manage overall vendor relationships and performance
  • Ensure contracted services are provided
  • Ensure compliance with established SP processes
  • Address operational issues
  • Support operation by facilitating discussion between parties Act as tactful facilitator during problem resolution without compromising the business relationship
  • Implement audit procedures:
  • Audit vendors based on predetermined criteria
  • Report on audit findings Responsible for corrective measures
  • Operational responsibilities for domestic and international jet fuel supply
  • Ensure supplier's fuel quality & technical fuel handling specifications/procedures comply with Air Canada's specification
  • Proactive approach to ensure 100% security of supply at all stations 24/7/36
  • Monitor, communicate and implement corrective measures
  • Manage fuel management system to ensure it contains accurate commercial elements
  • Manage regulatory commodity compliance globally.
  • Oversee commercial / contract commodity compliance exposures.
  • Keep current with key political and economic developments as they relate to global commodity markets
  • Maintain uptodate knowledge of commodity key drivers, and regular analysis of raw material and freight shouldcosts to drive stronger more substantiated supplier negotiations

Qualifications

  • University degree in the relevant field of study (Commerce, Supply chain, Finance) or professional experience to support the responsibilities of this role
  • Ability to respond resourcefully, proactively, when faced with new challenges and to move forward positively and productively under conditions of change or uncertainty
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, can engage and build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to write business plans, business requirements documents
  • Ability to present complex material/business impacts to executive stakeholders and negotiate project timelines/tradeoffs without compromising the business requirements.
  • Experience in any of the fields of procurement, passenger airlines, Airports, Oil Industry, supply chain and/or another related role.
  • Selfstarter and ability to work under minimum supervision
  • Ability to work under pressure and to multitask with a strong sense of priorities
  • Ability to facilitate a crossfunctional work team to achieve objectives.
  • Excellent time management skills, ability to shift priorities on an ad hoc basis and flexibility with working hours. Occasional travel may be required
  • Strong entrepreneurial spirit and a desire to innovate
  • High degree of professionalism and discretion is essential
